Description

Riley has spent his existence in the shadows of the woods, a fractured, feral vampire struggling to control the primal hunger that defines him. Turned as a child, he is an anomaly among his kind, kept isolated by his protective, worried mothers who hope he might one day find the stability only a mate can provide. But Riley is convinced he is a lost cause—until the scent of freshly baked bread and pure, intoxicating sweetness lures him out of hiding and straight to the doorstep of a new arrival in town. Seth is a baker who finds fulfillment in his ovens and his community, having long ago put romance on the back burner. He expects a quiet life, not a pale, unnerving, and breathtakingly beautiful regular who stares at him with an intensity that borders on terrifying. Yet, despite the stranger's lack of social graces and strange, predatory gaze, Seth finds it impossible to look away. As Riley fights to hide his monstrous nature long enough to win Seth’s heart, a mysterious research institute begins to cast a long, dangerous shadow over their coastal town. Caught between fated attraction and deadly secrets, the two must decide if they are willing to risk everything for a love that defies human boundaries.

Wow!

A trip down memory lane. I read the complete preceding series leading to the adoption of Riley. I never thought I’d be reading a sequel.. Grae Bryan is a gifted writer. I enjoyed every single page of the novel. I’m looking forward to more in this new series.

🧛🏻 Sweet, Feral, and Slightly Confusing

This book is one of those stories that feels like stepping back into a familiar world… except your memory is a little foggy and the timeline refuses to cooperate. Right from the start, I felt like I should remember more than I actually did. Riley is not a new character, he’s the kid the Hyde Park Vampires rescued in the earlier books, but trying to pinpoint exactly when and how? That’s a whole investigation on its own. At some point, I just accepted the confusion and went along for the ride. And honestly? It was worth it. Riley is such an interesting character. He’s not your typical polished, seductive vampire, he’s feral, socially stunted, and emotionally fragile in a way that makes him both terrifying and incredibly endearing. The fact that he was turned as a child really shows. He doesn’t understand people so much as he clings to them, and that makes his connection with Seth feel raw and a little dangerous in the best way. Seth, on the other hand, is pure sunshine. A baker, kind-hearted, a little oblivious, and somehow completely unfazed by the absolute madness happening around him. The dynamic between them works so well because Seth brings warmth and stability, while Riley brings… chaos, hunger, and devotion bordering on obsession. And then there’s the town. Because apparently, in this universe, everyone just casually drops life-altering supernatural information like it’s gossip over coffee. Benny really said: “Oh yeah, your bestie Sasha is bonded to a demon, his…

Great start to a new series!!

4.5 stars....A sweet and sexy PNR/Small Town/Fated Mates/Baby Vamp x Human tale…This is sweet Seth’s (from Demon Bound series)and Baby Vamp, Riley’s (whom we met at the end of Vampire Mates series) story! So happy sweet Seth got his HEA! Riley and Seth were so fun together especially Riley’s version of courting Seth!! As par for the course with Grae, there are quite a few fun, quirky secondary characters (especially Riley’s moms) which always leads to a delightful story..I loved every word!!

very satisfying read

This book hit all the right buttons with romance, sexiness, family (found and otherwise), and hints that there might be more adventures in this universe. Or at least I’m hoping there will be. The epilogue was especially emotionally satisfying.

Sweet and very hot

Age gap (19-26) Fated mates Inexperienced top Interesting use of healing saliva 🤭 Overall, it was sweet, hot, and just a fun, easy read about two very adorable idiots trying to figure things out. Seth moves to a new town for a fresh start and ends up meeting Riley, a reclusive vampire who’s basically been in hunger training for the past ten years and is just now learning how to be around people again. He’s trying his best, ok? I really liked both main characters. Seth seeing himself as average while Riley is just completely gone for him. Yeah, I ate that up. You also get cameos from couples in the other series, but you won’t feel lost if you haven’t read them.
