Description

When the person you thought was your soulmate walks away, there are two ways to handle the heartbreak: wallow in misery or get even. Knox chooses the latter. His plan is simple—distract himself with the most inconvenient person possible: his ex’s brother, Elton Hill. Elton is a walking headache. He is loud, intrusive, and possesses an intensity that makes Knox’s skin crawl. But as their strictly physical arrangement unfolds behind closed doors, the caricature of the "dumb hunk" starts to crack. Beneath the surface, Knox uncovers a sensitive, flamingo-obsessed man who is far more sincere—and infuriatingly perfect—than he ever intended to find. What started as a messy rebound quickly morphs into something he isn’t ready to relinquish. However, the foundation of their burgeoning connection is built on a lie. Knox is harboring a secret that could dismantle everything they’ve built the moment it sees the light of day. Between interfering coworkers at Club XO and the ticking clock of his own deception, Knox must decide if he is willing to risk his future to protect the past. This dual-POV, dislike-to-love romance delivers a cocktail of vulnerability, unexpected chemistry, and the high-stakes risk of falling for the person you were never supposed to touch.

My favorite in the series!

I'm adding my initial review (read via Kindle) to the special edition paperback as well (which has the greatest cover ever!) now that I've gotten this one too. I didn't think anything could top Dirty Martini, but Whiskey Sour might be the one - I fell head over heels with Knox and Elton! We jump right back into the story where the first one ended, and as Knox and Elton drowns their sorrows in way to many *special drinks* made by the incredible Skylar, Knox soon finds out that Elton might be the rebound he needs. - I wonder if he truly knows what it feels like to be alone. Alone like me. This one is a true grumpy x sunshine-story, and I had such a wonderful time with it. There are some truly gutwrenching moments that made my stomach drop, and as I always feel with Addison Becks books, you get so caught up with the characters and their emotions. Elton is also my favorite, and there was so many aspects about his character that I just felt that I could relate to in many ways. - Nobody had ever stood up for me. Nobody has ever cared. Nobody has ever thought I was worth it. He does. Overall, I had an amazing time with the second book of the Miami Nights and Club Lights-series, and I'm just loving this series so far! All the side characters are also so great, and the more I read about them, the more intrigued I am to read their stories as well (hopefully!). If you love grumpy x sunshine, love buddies to lovers, opposite attracts, brothers ex, and tons of moments where you smile…

My heart 🥹🥹🥹

This book pulled me in from the very first chapter. The “black cat and golden retriever” dynamic between Knox and Elton was written so beautifully. Knox’s closed-off, rough edges didn’t scare Elton away. Instead, Elton met him with kindness and quiet determination that really stuck with me. He never gave up on Knox—even when Knox didn’t believe he was worth the effort. There was something so tender about the way Elton slowly chipped away at Knox’s walls—not with pressure, but with care. His love felt like a safe place, something Knox never thought he deserved. And the fact that Knox gradually begins to believe he does deserve it? That got under my skin and stayed there. Their banter, the nicknames (especially the one Knox pretends to hate but secretly adores)—all of it added such warmth to their story. And then there’s this moment when Knox realizes that everything he thought love was… wasn’t. Not until Elton. Watching him quietly shift, make sacrifices, and start choosing happiness—not just for someone else, but for himself—made my heart ache in the best way. The secret Knox carries had me holding my breath, wondering how it would impact his already fragile sense of self. But through it all, their relationship felt deeply real and honestly earned. If you’re drawn to character-driven romance with raw vulnerability, healing, and soft, hard-won love, this one will absolutely stay with you.

Grumpy Sunshine Meets Miami

When I tell you I am OBSESSED with this book, I am OBSESSED 😍 Elton is such a sweetie pie. Always looking out for others, lending a helping hand, and just all around a nice guy. However, it would seem the people in his life suck (yes, I'm talking to you Rhys and Everest) and he's feeling super lonely. All he wants is to find that special someone, and he gets friend zone or rejected every single time. Now we have our bad boy Knox, and as suspected, he's always getting over Everest and Rhys. Surprise to no one who read Dirty Martini, Knox was actually in love with his bestie, and Everest had no idea. After feeling alone after boundaries are set, a drunken night sounds great. Andddd in comes Elton. In theory, these two shouldn't work at all. Elton is sunshine personified and Knoxy boy is definitely our black cat, but the chemistry between them, from the beginning might I add, is scorching. Through each other, they both give and take what each other needs, and it's a fun ride along the way. Not to mention some of the best spice I've ever read!
