Description

Prince Julian Davaros is the golden boy of the Lamdera Islands—an heir to the throne whose charm masks a chilling, blood-stained reality. While the public adores him and his inner circle keeps his lethal secrets, Julian lives in a world of detachment and violence. He treats people as disposable, until a chance encounter with a tourist named Wynn Carter shifts his predatory instincts into something far more possessive. Wynn came to the islands for a dream vacation, expecting sun, sand, and simple memories. Instead, he finds himself ensnared in a whirlwind romance with the future king. He is flattered by the lavish attention and the intensity of Julian’s devotion, blissfully unaware that he is being groomed by a predator who has never wanted to keep a victim for more than one night. But paradise is no sanctuary for the truth. When a shadowy threat targets Wynn, Julian’s carefully maintained facade shatters, unveiling the monster beneath the crown. As the luxury fades and the carnage begins, Wynn faces a harrowing choice: run from the man who was meant to be his fairytale prince, or embrace the darkness of a king who will burn the world down to keep him.

Another excellent book by Davidson King

5 gazillion stars. Trigger warnings in this. This is fiction so remember that going into it. This was awesome and epic. I was laughing and squealing at times at Wynn and Julian's banter. This was a ride for sure. There wasn't a dull moment in this. Wynn is on vacation with 2 of his best friends for his birthday celebration. He catches the eye of Julian who's the prince. They talk for a bit and Wynn thinks that will be the last, but he's wrong. Julian has a secret life that only a select few, mostly his family, know about. However when he sees Wynn something changes. It's like he's opened to something else. He wants to know Wynn. Even changes his schedule for this to happen. Though something happens when someone's not happy about Wynn's presents that makes things complicated. Since as summary says Julian being a killer in secret he decides they have to go, but the problem comes with him not sticking to his usual MO. Wynn is threatened and Julian is in touch or hurt him and he will end them mode. Julian's family have to get involved now and something else that I didn't see coming goes down. Which Wynn has to think on. I was laughing at the way Julian does things and Wynn has to keep telling him no you can't do that. This just works in a way that I can't explain. I adored Wynn's friends and Julian's family. Wynn doesn't just help Julian he helps the whole family. There is drama and darkness but Wynn is the light.

In the Name of Love

Wynn is an American tourist and perfectly normal except for his clumsiness and ADHD. But on vacation, he's also attracted the attention of Prince Julian, the unaliving, psychopathic heir to the country's crown. It's a fairy tale with a dark twist that enthralls you. Wynn is lovely and Julian is just one big ball of obsession and possession whose only redemption is his overwhelming love for Wynn. When Wynn is targeted as his weakness, Julian must save him. Violence, thrills, chills and mayhem in the name of love. I received a copy of this through GRR and this is my voluntary opinion.

Dark mayhem that pulls you in and doesn't let go

I'm going to start right out of the gate by saying this is not a typical story topic I generally seek out, I don't shy away from it, just not something I go looking for. Don't get me wrong, I've read many a book where the actions of the MC can be labeled ambiguous but killing to "scratch a mental itch"? Not what I usually seek out(truth be told, "scratch a mental itch" is just the simplest way to say it, there's more going on here than that). But Under His Rule is a Davidson King tale and frankly, IMO no one does dark mayhem better, so in I went. So freakin' glad I did! Perhaps it's not going to change my pattern of looking for it, but boy did it entertain, and I can't ask for more. I won't spoil anything so details will be minimal but I do have to say, at one point I really expected a certain familial relationship to go in a different direction but I was wrong and I think the story is better for my wrongness😉. The author would have done it well had my directional thought been right but this was better and didn't "weigh it down with added dramatic baggage". As I started with, Prince Julian's predilections are not my goto choices but I can certainly sympathize with some of his thought patterns. How can you not love Wynn? After all, he only wants a memorable vacation with his friends. Well he certainly got it, not how he probably envisioned it but definitely memorable, to say the least. Together, they complement each other, even if Wynn is reluctant and the prince has a…

Absolutely Loved It!

I absolutely loved this book! I thought the premise was fascinating from the start- a royal who's also a serial killer? And everything in him spotting not his next kill but someone he wants to possess? Yes please!! Great world building and wonderful characters. I loved both Wynn and Julian. I liked Wynn's personality from the start. He was cute and sweet, and it was honestly refreshing to have a clumsy protagonist. It's been quite some years since I'd read one- and they were always females. So that made me smile. And the little premonition he unknowingly tossed out in the beginning made me grin outright: “It’s a dream come true. I always wanted to go, but it was expensive. But hitting thirty made me realize I wasn’t getting any younger and that all this money I was saving, well, I can’t take it with me when I die, so why not go?... And you know, there are a lot of fancy royalty there, maybe I’ll meet my prince charming?” I wiggled my eyebrows. I loved how they first met- a meet cute in a cafe where something about Wynn just drew Julian in so strongly; and as the reader I could literally feel his obsession forming and snapping into place. Wynn was proud of himself for not spilling anything and remaining cool and collected. Julian's state of being was calm and controlled and had a very different air to Wynn. His method of murder and what he called it was interesting and different from the murder methods I've read about in other dark/serial killer romance. 'There was…
