Description

Mel is a jaded mixologist at Terror & Virtue, an elite New York City cocktail lounge where she spends her nights observing the messy, hollow romantic lives of Manhattan’s elite. Having long ago abandoned the idea of a fairytale—or even a decent second date—she keeps her heart firmly under wraps. That is, until Bebe slides onto a barstool. Bebe is magnetic, sharp-witted, and effortlessly cool—not to mention happily married to her partner, Kade. When the couple invites Mel into their open marriage, she hesitates, terrified of the complications. Yet, the gravitational pull toward them is impossible to ignore. As Mel is swept into their world of intoxicating romance, public displays of affection, and high-stakes sensory experiences, she finds her walls crumbling. Through the exhilarating chaos of a unconventional love triangle, Mel discovers a new level of self-assurance—both behind the bar and in her personal life. Encouraged by her new partners, she finds the courage to pursue her dream of opening her own lounge. In this sparkling, provocative look at modern intimacy, Mel learns that love doesn’t always follow the rules, and sometimes, the best recipes require a few unexpected ingredients.

So much to love!

I was so excited when I saw an LGBTQ+ poly romance was coming up for publication by a major publisher. It’s about time. I hope to see many more because one book (or even two or three) cannot possibly be expected to deliver it all. But Triple Sec really does do a great job of balancing some of the realities of a non monogamous relationship while offering a story that is fun to read and gave me a lot of laugh out loud moments. I’d love to see a movie of this, and I’m not even talking about the sex scenes. There are quite a few of those, obviously, but that’s not what made this such a fun story for me to read. Mel is a great main character with so many relatable characteristics, I honestly felt like I knew her. The other characters are good, too, especially Kade, who seems to be this impossible to know person until we finally get to know them. It’s not a perfect book, and I thought it really started out a little slow. But there are so many things to like about it that I have to give it 5 stars, because in the end, I know I will be thinking about this story for a long time to come. Not to mention my newfound appreciation for the makings of a great cocktail!

Plus one, plus one

It's rare that I find decent FF stories, much less decent polyamory Queer stories and I am really disappointed in myself that I sat on this one so long before reading it. There are times that I need to be in the right frame of mind for a particular story and I pushed against this for some really stupid reason. I really enjoyed the ebb and flow of Mel and BeBe's story. The learning to love again despite having lost before. The realization that you absolutely deserve to be loved in all your iterations. This story brings all of that and so much more. It didn't have the "participation trophy" feel to it at all and yes, they were all winners. Mel needed to learn to let others in, to allow herself to feel and to believe in herself like others did. Sometimes, things in relationships get rocky but the right people are worth the fight as Mel, BeBe and Kade soon learn.

Slow burn romance featuring a lesbian triad

A decent, light-hearted read that is quick pace. Not much character development. Definitely a slow burn. Don’t expect any smut. A nice read in between the heavier books you read.

Great relatable characters and a more interesting read than the ethical slut

I do enjoy a beautiful story with some spicy scenes that has all of the ethical non-monogamy I want to see in the world.
