Description

Landon Fletcher is the quintessential golden boy of the NHL—talented, outgoing, and effortlessly charming. Casey Hicks, by contrast, is the grizzled, cynical defensive defenseman who prefers the solitude of his inner world to the bright lights of the hockey arena. When a trade forces the two of them to become roommates, the clash of their polar-opposite personalities seems inevitable. As they navigate the high-stakes pressure of a grueling hockey season, the distance between hate and love begins to dissolve. Landon’s relentless optimism starts to thaw Casey’s guarded exterior, while Casey’s grounding influence helps Landon manage the loneliness lurking beneath his superstar persona. What starts as an uneasy domestic arrangement quickly evolves into a profound, intimate connection that neither man expected. Rich with witty banter and atmospheric rink-side tension, this story is a refreshing take on the sports romance trope. It moves beyond the typical locker-room drama to offer a heartfelt, low-angst exploration of self-discovery and vulnerability. Through their blossoming bond, both men learn that the most important game isn't played on the ice, but in the difficult, brave work of letting someone truly see who you are. It is a warm, spicy reminder that even the most grounded hearts can still find their time to shine.

A Grumpy Hockey Player Finds His Christmas Miracle Just in Time to Say Goodbye

Time to Shine Rachel Reid 2023 382 pages Overall Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️½ MM Sports Romance (Hockey) Plot: Casey Hicks may not be the sharpest tool in the shed, but he knows a brooding, lonely guy in need of a hug when he sees one. And Landon Stackhouse really needs a hug. The quiet, hulking goalie just got called up to the NHL after Casey’s teammate was injured during a nasty play, and it’s obvious that Landon isn’t convinced he’s good enough to be here. Casey loves people and is the life of the party, so it makes sense that he should be the one to officially welcome Landon to the team. Casey also has a terrible fear of being alone, so inviting Landon to be his roommate would help them both out. Of course, Casey didn’t expect that Landon would be so delectable, either. For Landon, it’s hard to resist Casey’s relentless cheer. There’s something infectious about being with him, and it isn’t long before Landon starts believing in happiness again, even though he doesn’t deserve it. And what’s the point anyway? As the back-up to the back-up goalie, Landon knows his time with the team is limited. It’ll be hard enough to say goodbye, even without all these pesky FEELINGS. First Take: I really loved this book. It’s such a ray of sunshine. A lighthearted little Christmas miracle. These two are so adorable you just want to put them in your pocket and carry them around with you forever. Casey is completely outrageous and his golden retriever heart had me LOLing left and right. He’s…

I love you both so much Casey and Landon

Casey is the outgoing, sunshine in a bottle hockey nepo baby, but like who is good at his job lol. Landon is an anxious introvert who barely speaks and has recently been called up to the NHL to replace a goaltender who got injured. Casey being the sweet kind amazing human that he is, offers Landon a room in his massive house so neither of them have to live alone and Landon doesn’t have to worry about finding a place for however long he is on the team. Of course through Casey’s determination, they become quick friends. They both have MASSIVE crushes on each other but for their own reasons, do not pursue a relationship… until they do. I had so much fun reading this book. I instantly fell in love with both Casey and Landon. I loved them so much as people and them eventually as a couple. I adore opposites attract and this is definitely the case for this book. Casey and Landon are practically opposite in every way and yet they complement each other so well as friends and then more. Seeing them bring out different parts of themselves and grow as people with the support of each other was so sweet to read. I loved how their families interacted and played part in their love story as well. I know a lot of people didn’t like that Casey was sleeping around in the first half of the book but I really didn’t have any opinion on it, positive or negative. Like, to me it made it seem like Casey was distracting himself from his feelings for Landon in whatever way he could. Another thing! The…

If this one doesn't get a series I'm going to run into traffic

I started with watching the series and of course I got hooked, it happened with watching red white and royal blue then I read everything from that author and this happened. Read all the game changer books in 10 days. Love them. Then knew there were two outside the series, thought I should take a break because it was getting obsessive but eff it, read them and this was the last one. SO ENTERTAINING. SO FUNNY. I relate to Casey as someone who talks so much and not super smart and scared of the dark but can feel vibes on people well and chases the dopamine on interests like falling in a YouTube knowledge rabbit hole, its an ADHD super power and I want more of Sweet Landon and Beautiful Casey.I've had a bottle of wine, but this would be so amazing on screen, all of it would be. We need happy stories like these I can't do these post apocalyptic shows its too close to reality can we change the narrative here, it feel like this is the missing important piece that needs to be more normalize than the consistent violence we wake up to every day.

My favorite Rachel Reid book

I am a huge fan of Rachel Reid's Game Changers series. I've read all the books and those with Shane and ilya more than once. I can't count the number of times I've watched the Heated Rivalry HBO series. That said, Time to Shine is my favorite of all of Reid's hockey romance books. I love the characters; it's laugh-out-loud funny; very sweet and so frickin' life-affirming. I literally skipped working to finish the book; and then was sad when it was done. Jacob Tierney, I hope you have a deal with Rachel to bring Casey and Landon to us on screen!
