The Ties That Bind Us

I personally really love this authors writing style! She immediately draws me in and I am forever grateful for the WLW representation that she writes, particularly including more masculine leaning women. I was immediately in love with Shae, and of course adored the power dynamics between them. This was the first contemporary book I’ve ever read from her and it did not disappoint. Super spicy, super engaging and somehow super sweet. If you’re new to Sapphic spice I’d definitely give this one a try!

We love a minor büllÿ romance! This was a great book, quick and fun read! Jean and Shea are both great characters and even in a short book, 200 pages, there still is character development! The spice was spicy but didn’t consume the entire book which was great! 10/10 would read again!

I’ve been wanting to get into wlw/sapphic romances but I’m definitely a dark romance girlie at heart and it’s been hard finding a book that bridges the two..UNTIL THIS BOOK! I loved everything about his book. Shae’s character was an awesome mash up of “masculine traits” (controlling, a little manipulative, loves to spoil, cocky,) and had a smidgen of sensuality all rolled into one. The spice was hot, the pacing was spot on and the plot twist I did not see coming.

This book was a quick sweet read. Spice 3/5 but the plot is good but some parts are rushed but the book is rather short. I definitely think it is worth reading if you are wanting to get your read numbers up.

First, I want to say as a disclaimer, I am totally a lover of dark romance and right off the bat you should know that this is definitely a darker romance. There are not going to super warm and fuzzy vibes with this love story. Though it is a love story, and Jean and Shae do have their happily ever after, it just takes a bit of a different road to get there then you may be expecting. Jean makes a series of decisions out of desperation and one lands her in a more sordid world than others. One happens to drop her in Shae’s world and there is instant chemistry between them. Shae holds the power here and she has no problem wielding it to keep Jean with her. However, Shae’s life is far more complicated and dangerous than Jean ever could have thought. And, the longer the tumultuous on-again-off-again relationship continues, the more Jean isn’t sure whether she can stay and Shae wants Jean more than she ever thought she was able to want someone. What happens when Jean and Shae are re-united after time apart? Well, a lot of revelations, manipulations, and temptations. I became pretty obsessed with this story by the end. I became invested in Jean and Shae’s relationship and how they would ultimately get past the many barriers that seemed to keep them both apart and somehow continuously in each other’s orbit. These characters are extremely flawed and made me hurt, and love and be angry with them! There were also some twists in this book that I didn’t expect! AND, SOME VERY STEAMY…
