Description

Trent and Magnus are the definition of an unlikely pair. Trent is just trying to navigate college life, while his roommate, Magnus—a brilliant but eccentric doctoral candidate—lives in a perpetual state of hyper-focus. Their domestic rhythm is perfectly calibrated, even if Magnus’s penchant for barging into rooms without warning tests Trent’s patience. But everything changes when Magnus hatches a wild, highly unconventional business plan: creating adult content together. What begins as a pragmatic scheme to leverage their chemistry for subscribers quickly turns into a confusing, exhilarating game of pretend. For Magnus, this venture is a calculated move to keep his best friend by his side long after graduation, ethical academic boundaries be damned. For Trent, the line between acting and reality begins to blur until the script they’re following feels suspiciously like genuine desire. As they navigate the tension of their growing business, the two find themselves trapped in a high-stakes performance where the boundaries of their friendship are tested daily. The Straight Script is a witty, simmering romance about two men realizing that the most convincing performances are the ones rooted in a truth they were both too afraid to speak aloud.

Loved it

I absolutely loved these characters. Their interactions were great. This story gave me all the feels. I will be looking up the story that goes with the excerpt at the end.

smutty and cute

A low angst read about two men who decide to fake fall in love as a side hustle on a cam site but end up realizing they really are in love. Very cute and clear about consent and communication which is always good. Felt a little long to me because despite there being stalkers, there isn’t that much action. Maybe if I was more in a mood to appreciate the smut, which is well written and a lot of which makes sense for the story, I would have said 5 stars for sure but a solid 4.5 stars for a good if a bit predictable story with lots of healthy relationship habits modeled

Love Mangus and Trent

This story has it all. Laughter, love, danger, and a happily ever after! I didn't realize it was written by Jennifer Cody until after I finished it. If I had I would known it was going to be great! Once again Jennifer gives her audience a view into the lives of her characters who possess flaws and depth. I honestly hope she writes another story with Mangus and Trent because i fell hard for them and thinking about never reading them again makes me sad. Give this book a chance! You won't regret it!

honestly loved this

This was the funniest, cutest, and sexiest book ever. I honestly wasn’t expecting it. I knew I would like it, but it ended up having more depth than I thought and a surprise suspenseful storyline which was right up my alley. The Straight Script told the story of Magnus and Trent, best friends and dorm mates who decide the best way to fund their dreams of moving off campus one day is to open an OnlyFans. Magnus, the resident genius and once child prodigy who is now a doctoral professor on campus despite being the same age as most of his students, frames it as a research study in order to get the approval of the higher up in campus. Trent, currently get a double major and minor, decides to go along with it despite the fact that they’re both straight, for the sole reason of getting to do something for work that’s unlikely to impede his study schedule and help him stay with his best friend. While the channel takes off, Magnus and Trent slowly come to the realization that while they’re playing straight boys who don’t know they’re falling for each other for the camera, real life isn’t quite so different from their script. Unfortunately though, not everyone is happy to support their endeavors and they make a few enemies on campus who disagree with what they’re doing. Overall, this was really quite good and enjoyable. It was also a quick read that I was able to get through with ease. I’d definitely read from this author again!

Another amazing book from Jennifer Cody!!!

There's so much to love about this book! Trent and Magnus' evolving relationship, all the conversations about consent, the open and honest communication in general, and all of the support they receive from friends and fans. And the spicy scenes? You better have a cold beverage handy, because you'll need it to cool yourself down afterward. ;)
