This series has become one of my top favorite erotic mm romance ever. I can't believe I hadn't heard from this author before, but I'm glad I found her because she is now one of my favorite authors. I love everything about this series: the storylines, the characters, the pace, the sizzling spice, the amazing writing, and even the gorgeous covers that match the characters in the books to perfection. What I love the most though, is that these three first books are not just about erotism, which I really enjoy, but they have DEPTH. I also loved the cameos from the previous books and that we get a glimpse into their current lives. Please do yourself a favor and grab this series. I can't wait until the next book, which I hope is Silas's story. HIGHLY recommended!!

this series has me in a chokehold!
I really enjoyed this book!
I’m glad the two MMCs learned how to communicate better as the book went on. I wish we could have gotten a glimpse of Chris’ poetry explaining his feelings about Gibson (since Chris mentioned how he writes better than he talks).
I think Marianne’s character was an amazing twist on a trauma survivor.

The Sinner's Sanctuary by August Jones is another great book in the Doormen of the UES Series. It's a wonderful story about two men living with grief and guilt finding hope with one another. It's so real. Every character is wonderfully flawed and beautiful. I need to read more of this author while I'm waiting for the next Doormen of the Upper East Side Book!

Guilt. Such a strong word, such a strong emotion. It can rule you, destroy you, keep you under. Till you find someone to share your thoughts, your fears, some mind blowing and life altering kisses and eventually… love.
“It’s not every day that someone accepts you in all your total imperfection. Your whole messy package”
I absolutely loved Gibson and Christian’s story! Their chemistry, their connection, their long talks, their “talk to me” kind of communication and did I mention their kisses? The plot, the characters, all amazing! Yes, even Marianne, the wife, lol.
“I need you,” I say before kissing him again. “Any particular reason?” “You’ve turned me into an animal.” “You’ve been an animal. I think I might have left the cage unlocked, though.”
This book will take you on an emotional rollercoaster ride. It made me think, it made me cry and it made me happy to see two tortured people finding their happiness.
Life is too short to be unhappy…
“The Sinner’s Sanctuary” is the third book in the “Doormen of the Upper East Side” series. It can be read as a standalone but I think It makes more sense (at least to me) if it’s read in order. Can’t wait for the next book…
“In case I haven’t told you lately, you’re the best thing that’s ever happened to me”

Another great story out of the Doormen of the Upper East Side books! I always get a little nervous when religious trauma is part of the story but August Jones did it perfectly in this book!
Christian's struggle with love, forgiveness, faith, and even - to an extent - his sexuality is so well written. Relationship trauma is so debilitating regardless of one's age, but when it happens so young the ramifications are often lifelong struggles. Christian is the perfect embodiment of this fact as he works to reconcile his feelings about faith and forgiveness with how he sees himself. His introduction to the BDSM culture fits perfectly with his character's development and growth and I absolutely love the care with which this author chose to accomplish this particular arc.
And then there's Gibson; sweet, loyal, brokenhearted Gibson. I absolutely adore this character - so much more than I thought I would. The devotion he has to someone incapable of reciprocating is honestly so rare and I love that this author chose to go that route. It makes Gibson such a beautifully nuanced character, especially as we see his relationship with Christian develop.
