Description

For five years, the jagged peaks of the Arete Resort have served as both a sanctuary and a haunt for a veteran struggling to reconcile his past. Each visit is a reminder of the brothers-in-arms he lost and the pieces of himself he left behind on the battlefield. But the cycle of regret is shattered when Walker Rhodes—the medic he presumed lost to time and silence—unexpectedly reappears. Walker is no longer the man he remembers. Hardened by conflict and carrying the weight of his own secrets, he is a stranger with familiar eyes. Yet, when he looks at the narrator’s scars, he sees a story of survival rather than a mark of failure. The spark that once challenged the narrator’s sense of identity flares back to life, reminding him of a connection that transcended labels and expectations. When the past catches up to Walker in the form of danger and legal threats, the narrator faces an impossible choice: retreat into the safety of his ghosts or expend his final favors to save the one man who makes him feel whole. This is a visceral story of redemption, hidden desires, and the terrifying, beautiful lengths one will go to fix what was thought to be broken beyond repair.

Amazing and Well Told Story!

This story brought to life a subject not usually spoken of in today's world of ignoring reality. The story shows that endearing bond formed in battle that can lead to suppressed desire and lasts forever. Many who served do admit or share their inner feelings because our society rejects and penalize this relationship. This as well as the Many "ghosts " that special units hold deeply inside are not even discussed with professionals for fear of disciplinary action. The author did a commendable job of highlighting these suppressed feelings in the lead characters, while still delivering a great story . One can almost think he has some experience himself. There's plenty of action and good stress in this book, and I feel everyone should read it with an open heart and mind. The defenders of are freedoms, enter young and age fast in conflicts assigned to them by higher ups that will never get dirty on their hands. The bonds built within our military units are especially the different special units are stronger than even some family bonds. When you see a combat veteran from any country, know they have stood facing the evil they don't want you to ever face. This story has a wonderful ending for the series, but keep in mind, not every real life veteran gets the same ending. I have Much respect for this author and this book, and when it's fully released will strongly recommend to others to read. The world may just call this " another sex book ", but I Pray it opens eyes and hearts to the…

Cade & Walker

4.5 stars Cade and Walker have a history, they spent time together while serving, and that created a solid base for when they are reunited at Arete Resort five years later. Cade is still dealing with the aftermath of his last mission, the loss of his leg, and the horror surrounding the loss of his men, all of which has left him with PTSD. Walker is struggling with how much power and control the 'suits' have, he became a writer and tried using his platform to bring awareness to many issues, but now the 'suits' have taken notice. Cade and Walker reconnect, deepen their friendship, and along the way, other more powerful feelings surface and eventually leads them to a devoted love and a hard won HEA. Their journey has it's ups and downs, especially when the 'suits' come for Walker, but Cade is more than willing to do whatever it takes to save his man. This book is well written with regard to the sensitive issues as well as the development of the MC's. There are a lot of emotions being processed throughout the book, some action and violence, many steamy sexy times, good friends, and two amazing men finding true happiness. I received an ARC from Booksprout, this review is my honest, unbiased opinion.

Reunion For Two Soldiers

Cade is back at Arete for his fifth stay. This time his best friend Clay will not be there with him. He already feels lonely until suddenly he hears a voice that he has not heard in years. When he turns around he sees his team’s former military medic, Walker. He is looking at him when Walker’s eyes turn to look at him across the room. They are both speechless for a bit, and then they walk towards each other. Cade has a visible injury, he lost a leg in the battle in which all of his men were killed. He also suffers from PTSD. Walker has scars on his body underneath his clothes, but his worst scars are in his mind. He has been an angry young man. He had been wounded, shot in the chest, damaging a lung, and would have died if a helicopter could not have reached them to transport him to the base hospital. When he had healed enough, he was sent out into the field with a different team, although he was not completely healed. He fought hard and cared for members of the team when they were wounded. When he finished his contract, he opted to separate from the military. Now the only two remaining men from Cade’s team were back together. Walker had a crush on Cade while he was in his unit, and had never gotten over it. Cade is thrilled to be reunited with Walker. He had always had a special feeling for him. Hopefully, being together will help both men to heal, but it will not be easy.

WOW!

Romeo Alexander's writing is so good. I loved the plot, and the deeper subplot of how many soldiers of special units have to hide their feelings. Stunning. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
