I'm floored and speechless with how perfect this story was. This author's words were not only poetic but extremely lyrical perfection. The flow and characters were fleshed out perfectly. This book is heavy on the mental health and trauma. There is so much pain and darkness in this story but also hope and light. This author handled all this with care. This one is a good one. Emotional but in The best ways. I read this one straight through. These two are great.

This is such an incredibly beautiful book. It deals with quite a few heavy topics, so please check the trigger warnings first. There isn’t anything like a hard fought HEA with two broken souls who complete and heal each other. If you love hurt/comfort then this is the book for you. Both Crew and Price struggle with mental health and their growth throughout was a lovely thing to read. Crew believed that he needed to feel pain and only Price with his patience and tender care could convince Crew that he deserved love. The softest, gentlest, and warmest kind of love. These men had my emotions all over the place and I couldn’t put my phone down. CW’s writing style with such poetic influence truly created a unique and lovely story. I couldn’t recommend this book more!

I’ve honestly been putting off this review because I truly don’t know how to sum up everything that is The Intimacy of Skin. No matter what I say, it’s going to fall short—and I have to just accept that and try anyway. To say that this book is transcendent is an understatement. The Intimacy of Skin tells the story of Crew and Price, two men who are broken in their own ways. Crew feels like roughness is all he deserves, and Price yearns for something more, to escape the ceaseless itching of his own skin. Where Crew is winter glaciers, Price is fire and warmth and heat, slowly, beautifully, and so patiently melting the ice around Crew’s heart. Where Crew craves pain, Price shows him only tenderness. Where Crew doesn’t believe he’s worthy, Price will do anything to prove to him just how deserving he truly is. This is a story about pain, about love, and about being there for each other. It’s about seeing the darkest, most raw parts of someone’s soul, and choosing them. Again and again. The Intimacy of Skin is not afraid of dealing with dark and real themes, but it does so beautifully, and like its name, intimately. If you like stories that grapple with trauma, with pain, and really take the time to sit with it, to untangle it, and to heal it, then this is a must-read. It’s one of those books that will stay with you for a long time, both for the achingly beautiful prose and its rawness, and might just change your life.
