Description

Matteo Marchetti is the life of the Atlanta Firebirds locker room. As the team’s resident jokester and self-appointed book club moderator, he’s spent his career playing matchmaker for his teammates, keeping his own romantic life firmly tucked away behind a facade of loud laughter and theatrical charm. His teammates think they know the real Matteo, but no one has ever managed to slip past his defenses. Enter Isaiah "Zay" Brooks, the Firebirds' grounded, out-and-proud physical therapist who considers professional boundaries his holy grail. Zay knows better than to mix business with pleasure, especially when his career depends on maintaining a strictly clinical relationship with the high-profile players. But when a nagging shoulder injury lands Matteo on his treatment table, the chemistry is impossible to ignore. In the quiet intensity of the training room, Matteo’s boisterous mask begins to crack, revealing a man who is as vulnerable as he is magnetic. As the physical proximity deepens, the line between therapist and patient blurs. Caught in a high-stakes, slow-burn tension, they must navigate the risks of a forbidden connection. With their teammates watching—and gossiping in the group chat—can they break their own rules in time to find an ending worthy of the books they love?

Hockey players and Kittens ... who would have thought???

I'm not a great writer of reviews, but I just wanted to say that I have thoroughly enjoyed these hockey books. Riley Bauer is a master writer of this hockey romance style and I have been glued to each book. I have especially loved picturing these big hockey players and their love and interest in so many diverse things, especially the kittens (in this book and "Face Off")! The stories are so full of "real-life" issues and the characters are so well developed and refined that I feel as though I know each one of them personally and have really enjoyed feeling like I'm in the middle of their exciting lives. The team chats are hilarious and so fun to read. I'm only sorry that the next two books are only going to be available on Kindle at the beginning. Can't wait for the next paperbacks. I highly recommend these books.

Best in series so far.

I've read all three (+ the bonus intro) books in the Atlanta Firebirds series, and Tape to Tape is my favorite so far. In this we get to met Teo and Zay's friends and families too, which in my opinion gives more depth to the characters asweel as the story. Both Teo and Zay are sweethearts, who deserved their well earned HEA.

Loved It

Face to Face was everything I love about MM Romance. It was: emotional, funny, romantic, and so real it felt like I was standing there in the locker room with them. Riley Bauer has such a gift for writing characters who are finding themselves and brave all at once. Marchetti completely stole my heart. Definitely a must read.

Not the best in the series…

I’m going to be honest…I’m here for Häjek and Five Hole Fiction. That being said, I really liked Marchetti and Zay’s story. However, it would have been better had it just been about the MCs rather than their racial differences or perceived racial bias, which wasn’t really an issue when they became an item. The team accepted Zay and Teo just as they did Avi and Ash, and Bas and Tikhon. Also, I thought it beyond strange that Volkov (Book 2) wasn’t even mentioned in this book. Why? Do download the bonus Five Hole Fiction chapter. I laughed until I cried! I’m looking forward to Berger & Mercer’s story. **There are a few typos and grammatical errors in this book.

Always keep the ziti warm.

First off, let me say, Riley Bauer might be the first ever writer that I've actually signed up for the fan letter email thing or whatever it's called and I'm not ashamed to say it was solely so I could get my hands on the bonus material because I can't not read Riley Bauer now that I've discovered Riley Bauer! Second, I was happy to finally figure out how Avi knew the ship name Kerimore. Maybe I missed it in the first book but I didn't remember them ever saying Avi was in the five hole fiction group chat, and a part of me was very curious as to how we were seeing that chat even though Avi wasn't in it. Not once did it occur to me that Avi was seeing it because he was in it and just not responding. Face palm for me. Third, I love Nonna and Nan and I feel as though those two women would either become instant besties or instant enemies. They have no in between. Fourth, Hájek is too sweet for this world or any other and I want his story but I also don't want his story because these stories involve heartache to earn the happy ending and I don't know if I can survive sweet pure Hájek having any such heartache or the heartache changing him or worse him not being as sweet and pure as he seems in the books so far. I think it's one of those "don't meet your heroes" things at this point. Fifth, I loved that these books run concurrently. The couples are not lined up and taking turns. It's messy, its in between each other. The conversation in the locker room when Fonty was talking…
