Carter Morgan III hates everything about South Carolina University except for one thing: hockey. Unfortunately, his time at school and on the team is slowly coming to an end. He’d love nothing more than to play in the NHL, but he knows better than to get his hopes up.
Zeke Cassidy needs a place to live. When he answers an advertisement for a roommate, he’s not sure what he is expecting except that it isn’t Carter Morgan III. Carter is unfriendly, aloof, and they have nothing in common; even so, the pair hit it off immediately and become friends
Mulder knocked it out of the park with this one, let me tell you!!
You see Carter in the third Offsides book, and he seems like he really needs a friend. He’s stand off-ish, a loner, and he just seems miserable- except when he’s playing hockey. I always knew there was more to him, and I loved that this book shows us that!
Zeke is a good one. What I love the most about him right from the get go, is that even though Carter looks mean and unfriendly, Zeke gives him the benefit of the doubt and treats him with respect. I wish more people would be like that.
I really loved watching their friendship blossom, how Carter slowly but surely opened up and allowed Zeke in. It was almost the classic “I hate everyone … but you,” except Carter doesn’t really hate everyone, he just is not super trusting when it comes to making new friends.
When Carter is playing hockey, even just talking about it, he comes alive. He knows how lucky he is with…
Adorable characters set in a world that you want to explore more of.
Absolutely loved this book, its very low angst and has great Demi rep. I love that its not love at first sight like so many 1st books in a romance series seem to be lately and that they develop an actual relationship before jumping straight into bed together.
Sweet but could use more spice
There's is good character development and I like the jock nerd dynamic. While low angst and heat stories are okay, that fact this one is pretty miniscule on both is a bit disappointing. I'm not saying it need to be pants off in chapter one, but when the heat does come I wish there was more passionate descriptions of emotions and body sensation.
So I would say if you are someone who likes romance with little to no spicy scenes then you'll probably enjoy this book more than I did. I'm someone who is automatically sad when I get to the 60% mark of the book no one has even kissed yet :(

amazing book but needs to continue the story
I fell in love with this book. But hate that it did not continue. It ended with him getting accepted for a hockey team far away from zeke and Zeke grandma was going to move into their house so zeke wouldn’t be alone and they were going to do long distance. Did not want the story to end and continue the story
Cute quick read! Love the dialogue witty & steamy with some cheesey & heartfelt parts!! No grammatical errors which is always a plus! Realistically explores the meaning of friends and relationships that develop into love!!! Doesn’t go into the specifics of why people are against this type of love which is unrealistic, but nice change when the main characters come out & everyone is whole heartedly supportive!!!!! The story flowed nicely!!!! Definitely can sense the connection loved that! The chemistry between our main characters was great!!! Loved the strangers to friends to lovers romance trope!! :) it does end somewhat abruptly so no doubt a sequel so recommend this one & will be reading others by this author!!!!!!
