Cam is a dog groomer that used to work at a chain salon, one she stayed at far too long because she was scared of change. She is starting her new job at a pet resort, where she has way more freedom to do the job she loves without the toxicity. Cam is bisexual, though she has never had the chance to be with a woman. She has a very small group of close friends who are her family, and they gently push her to work through some of her issues. One of which is getting over a toxic ex by hooking up with someone random. Too bad the next day, she realizes that someone turns out to be her boss at her new job.
Violet is a recently divorced manager at the pet resort. She has to run the place herself because the owner is trash. The same owner has an extremely strict 'no fraternization' policy. Vi wants to put her past relationship behind her and have an easy hook-up. Unfortunately, it's not so easy to just hook-up with someone when they turn out to be your new employee and the chemistry is off the charts.
I loved everything about this book. The dogs, the friends, the romance, the slow burn. I love reading a story about a pet groomer, a profession that doesn't ever come up in books, and people in other animal care fields, especially since they love their work. I love the heavy discussion about mental illness and struggling with living with them. I love the bi and queer representation. I love that the characters were actually diverse.
Elle put so much emotion and love into this book, you…
Came for the dogs, stayed for the found family. There are so many cute moments in this story - especially the one with the sharks 😉 - that it balanced out some of the heavy topics. Nicely done.
Cam and Violet - boss/employee, no-strings situationship that went hot and heavy until reality set in. So many things for both of them to unpack before they can confront their feelings.

A little incident with one of the dogs, but everything is fine! He makes it alright. All furry friends have a HEA❤️
I love this book so much, one of the best ST books I’ve read so far

Sassy Banter and Found Family
I really love how this author includes mental illness rep and how this book talks about a lot of deep emotional topics (divorce, death of a parent, etc.). While I felt at the times the plot was a little rushed for the sake of the two MCs coming together, I did really enjoy the book overall. I wish the epilogue was slightly more into the future so we could see more of what the girls were up to in their careers, but the ending with Vi's family was very cute and a nice way to end it. Some of their banter, especially with the boys, was A+ and I really loved Cam's relationship with Hayden, even if my heart did hurt for him.
Beautiful No Strings Attached Sapphic Romance!
Whew! What a book! So well written! I was thoroughly ensconced in this book and these characters right from the beginning!
The representation throughout was amazing and sensitively done. Mind the trigger warnings, there’s a bunch and mental health is more important, but I’d say they were all handled respectfully imo. I love that this is book 1 because the found family of side characters were awesome so I’m hoping they get their books too.
Violet is swoon worthy. Cam is so strong. They were spectacular on page together and their banter was glorious. Loved all the dogs ;).
I can’t wait for more! Thank you for writing this book! For sharing a piece of yourself both in story and writing.
