The omega finds the right alpha for him
I really enjoyed this book and read it in one sitting, wanting to see how these two men would finally get together. Hayes has been a widower for 5 years, raising his precocious six year old son by himself, all while working multi-day shifts at the fire station. He first meets Cole when a fire breaks out in the dryer at Cole’s newly inherited, decrepit B&B, and Hayes and crew arrive to put it out. Both feel a bit of attraction, but shrug it off, neither interested in pursuing anything. Their next actual encounter happens when Cole (Colby to young Levi) escorts Hayes’s wayward son home after Levi’s second unannounced visit. Cole enjoys time with Levi, but is concerned no one seems to miss him. This kind action reveals the problems with the babysitter, and Cole eventually volunteers to care for Levi while Hayes is at the station. This leads to more proximity, time together, and an emotional encounter which blows the whole blooming relationship up due to fear, doubt, guilt, and a huge communication (or lack thereof) gap. It takes both getting their heads on straight and desires figured out, along with a boost from Mother Nature, to get them back on track to providing a complete family for Levi.
I really liked both Hayes and Cole, but wanted to shake each individually, or both together on several occasions, to get their heads on straight and man up to see what was right in front of them. I adored Levi, he was the best character by far, enjoyed his babbling, off the wall…
Cole came home to Derek and his best friend together and they had been having an affair for awhile and since he got a letter telling him that he inherited the B&B his uncle had. The website showed a great looking place but when he got there it needed a lot of work before being able to rent the rooms. Hayes and the fire department were called for a dryer fire when Cole tried to use the dryer they saved the rest of the house and Hayes told Cole why he had that fire. He let Ralph stay like his uncle had had to start trying to do some of the repairs himself the estimate was more than he had. Hayes told him a few contractors that didn’t charge too much and then some of the townspeople started volunteering after they heard that he was keeping the place and reopen the Merrill House. Hayes has been raising his 6 year old son Levi alone after his omega was killed, a couple of times Levi showed up at Cole’s place when his babysitter went to sleep. Levi loved helping and being with Cole, Cole offered to watch Levi on the days Hayes had to work at the firehouse. Finally Hayes agreed but one night he gave into his feelings for Cole then ghosted him because he felt guilty. Cole dated Ryan a few times but Hayes hated that one afternoon he starts talking to Cole about what he feels and Cole decides to give him another chance.

With the release of Wild Moon Book 3, the series reached its climax. Go back now if you haven't caught up. The story's conclusion satisfied every need I had for a finish. The struggle to discover one's identity and place in the world culminates in the realization that any number is preferable to the absence of lust and conflict. To put a bow on an ongoing problem, Ken skillfully wove a love story into the fabric of past and present existence. Two social misfits who, against all odds, discover love and acceptance. Ken provided the ideal coda, stressing once again how crucial the pack is to its members' survival.

Both Cole and Hayes have a hard time getting over past relationships. Hayes tries to stay away and not get close but it is hard to do when his son adores Cole. I believe this is a cute story.
