"Odd Man Rush" by Kristen Granata offered me an exhilarating journey that took me beyond the borders of my typical literary preferences. It marked my first foray into the realm of polyamorous relationships, and I must say, it was quite the experience. This book is a unique blend of romance, spice, and a well-woven plot that kept me hooked from the very beginning.
What struck me the most was the electrifying chemistry between the three central characters, and how their relationships evolved over time. Kristen Granata masterfully delves into the complexities of polyamory, allowing readers like me to explore the uncharted territory of love that transcends conventional boundaries.
The characters' personal journeys as they grapple with newfound facets of their sexuality added depth and authenticity to the story. It was a compelling exploration of self-discovery and acceptance, which I found to be both enlightening and moving.
While I may not consider polyamorous romance to be my go-to genre, I can certainly appreciate its appeal to readers who are avid fans of this trope. The book caters to various sub-genres such as FFM, Friends to Lovers, Forced Proximity, Found Family, Why Choose, and even throws in a dash of hockey, making it a multifaceted treat for those who appreciate diverse elements in their romance novels.
"Odd Man Rush" is a testament to Kristen Granata's ability to craft a story that challenges boundaries and preconceptions, all while delivering a passionate and…

Love the book so far, have noticed that some parts of three story have been cut off or incomplete.
I enjoyed the story but something was missing. And that something was the connection between Celeste and Jason. We see them as friends, hesitating in how to interact with each other when being together, and then there is a big jump to being in love. All the book was based on how these two incredible people made Kourtney happy and what Kourtney wanted and what Kourtney needed. This was supposed to be a reflection of an equal kind of love, and it didn't feel that way. I would have loved to see more of the relationship between Celeste and Jason because I think they had something good but at the end it was just lacking. It was not a relationship well developed.
Overall the story was entertaining and there were great lessons learnt. The spicy scenes were truly well written. The love story wasn't as equal as expected though so it felt disappointing.
Kristen Granata knocks it out of the park with this FFM hockey romance. I love love love this book, and Odd Man Rush is Kristen Granata’s spiciest book to date!
What you get FF, FM, and FFM CONTENT, hot hot sexy scenes, and the best friends who love the shit out of each other.
Kristen Granata takes use through an amazing story of heartbreak and friendship and love. She takes us through the development of a polyamorous relationship.
It’s beautiful, and heart felt, and most importantly to me, includes true female bisexual representation. It also shows that true love isn’t something bound by what society has told you is right. It’s bound by the limits of your heart and the strength of your soul in going after what you want.

“I choose to surround myself with the people who love me unconditionally. Life is about choices. We can choose to open our minds and educate ourselves... or we can choose to stay rooted in the beliefs we've been fed all our lives. And that choice isn't always easy to make. But if we fight hard enough, we can make a change for the better.”

Interesting dynamic and premise
Odd Man Rush had a lot of potential, especially with its FFM dynamic and the built-in history between the characters. We’re told that they’ve known each other since high school, which should have added depth and emotional weight. Unfortunately, I didn’t fully feel that history on the page. The connection is explained more than it’s shown, which made some of the big emotional decisions feel less impactful than they could have been.
My biggest struggle was with how the relationship developed. It often felt like Jason and Celeste were making choices primarily to keep Kourtney happy rather than exploring what they genuinely wanted for themselves. Because of that, the emotional balance within the triad felt uneven. I really wanted more insight into Jason and Celeste’s internal conflicts—how they processed entering an FFM relationship, what they feared, what they needed, and what they stood to lose. Those layers would have made the relationship feel more mutually driven instead of centered around one person’s happiness.
The hockey backdrop adds some momentum, and there are definitely emotional moments that work. I just wish the character development had gone deeper, especially when it came to navigating such a complex relationship dynamic.
Overall, it’s an interesting premise with solid moments, but I was left wanting more emotional exploration and balance between the characters.
