Description

In the fall of 2000, the world lost a bright star, but the truth was buried beneath a lie designed to save her life. Forced to vanish amid the deafening roar of tabloid vultures, a woman finds herself confined to the walls of a secret sanctuary, guarded by two men who are as dangerous as they are devoted. Eddie Reznor, a man who moves through the shadows to make problems disappear, has finally let his walls crumble for her. Then there is Barret Hetfield, the scarred, magnetic rockstar who once found salvation in Eddie’s protection and is now finding a deeper redemption in the connection they share. As the three of them bunker down in a high-stakes, high-heat isolation, the lines between protector and lover blur. While the world forgets her, these two men are determined to help her remember what it means to be truly alive. But living in the shadows comes with a cost. As their chemistry ignites and the danger outside looms closer, she is faced with an impossible ultimatum: continue to hide in the safety of their embrace, or risk everything to step back into the light with the two men who have become her heart.

Emotional and unconventional love story

I loved the first book in this series and this one as well! This is Clio book she’s Roderick’s sister from book one. Cleo, Eddie and Barret were once involved but Cleo leaves with no explanation. When Eddie finds her, he devises a plan to rescue her from the monster fiancé who abused her. Cleo is broken, guarded and has nightmares. She has to work through her trauma to relearn to trust again. Through therapy and Eddie and Barret’s patience, consistency and love they prove to Cleo they belong together. I instantly fell in love with these characters. They’re all broken souls with each of them having trauma that reshaped them which is what makes their connection so special. This book is full of angst, emotion and love. The story is told in all three POV. They love each other fiercely and Eddie as their protector is just so beautiful. He is so patient with Cleo and Barrett. This is a very emotional and heartwarming love story of second chances, reconnection and healing. This is my second book by Claudia Burgoa and I have quickly fallen in love with her writing style. Her writing just captivates you and keeps you engaged in the story. I still think about this book. I can’t wait for the next one. I also listened to the audiobook as I read it and I loved narration! Jason Clarke, Lance West and Vivian LaRue just knocked it out of the ball park with this narration! It was just amazing and so heartfelt you can hear and feel the emotions in their voices and into your earbuds as well…

Perfect angsty nostalgia!

Lyrics Remain Unchanged by Claudia Burgoa - Book 2 in the Heartbreak Mixtapes series Narrators: Vivienne Larue, Lance West & Jason Clarke Release Date: February 25, 2026 Blurb: Fall 2000, New York—I disappear. Headlines circle like vultures, but only two men know the truth: Eddie Reznor, who makes problems vanish and lets his guard fall only for me, and Barret Hetfield, the bright-but-bruised rockstar Eddie once rescued . . . and never stopped loving. We hide while the city gossips. We let the world believe I’m gone so I can finally breathe. In the quiet, we re-learn the shape of us—therapy that holds me together, small rituals, guitar chords, and midnight tea. My body is relearning trust under hands that listen and a voice that won’t let me disappear. Eddie is the line I hold. Barret is the spark. I want to choose both. Their plan keeps me alive. Their heat keeps me fierce. And love like this won’t stay secret. When the façade cracks and the cameras close in, I have to choose: keep vanishing, or step into the light with the two men who are already home. This time, the melody is different. But the lyrics remain unchanged. Thoughts: I love a good book that brings the nostalgia and this is exactly what this whole series does! I loved the first book in this series so I was so eager to get my hands on this one. Pairing the 90’s nostalgia with a rockstar romance is like a match made in romance heaven. This one had extra points for the fact that it was a why…

Emotional love story with lots of depth

Story: 4 ⭐️ Audiobook: 5 ⭐️ I really enjoyed the emotional rollercoaster Claudia Burgoa took me on with this book. The writing is well paced and easy to read, and the story carries a lot of emotional weight throughout. I highly recommend reading the first book in the Heartbreak Mixtapes series, (Not So) Simple Lyrics, before starting this one. Even having read it first, I still felt like that foundation was really important for understanding the characters, their history, and the emotional stakes in this story. I can definitely see how jumping into this one without that context could leave readers feeling a bit lost. This book is very emotional and each character has their own baggage to unpack and heal from, including addiction, trauma, and past relationship mistakes. I really appreciated the growth each of them went through and the chemistry between them was strong. I was rooting for them the entire time and my heart definitely got put through the wringer. One thing to note: if you’re hoping for every question to be fully answered about what happened with Cleo, you may still have some lingering questions by the end. That was honestly the only reason this wasn’t a full five-star read for me. The narration was really well done. Vivienne Larue, Lance West, and Jason Clarke all brought a lot of emotion to their performances and their voices worked really well together. Each narrator captured their character’s tone and vulnerability in a way that made the story feel even…

Symphony of Healing

🎸 Lyrics Remain Unchanged: A 5-Star Symphony of Healing Claudia Burgoa has officially ruined me with this one! Set in the gritty, nostalgic hum of Y2K New York, this isn't just an MMF romance—it’s a soulful exploration of what happens when "reckless and untouchable" connections shatter and slowly, painfully, knit back together. It’s complicated, it’s real, and it proves that love doesn't have to be confined to be true. 🎸🌃✨ 🎼 The Trio: Cleo, Eddie, & Barret Cleo is a survivor, guarded by a past that taught her trust is a "dangerous currency." Watching her walls stay up—and seeing her men respect that—was everything. Eddie, the powerful fixer, and Barret, the soulful musician with his own history of addiction, don't try to "fix" her. Instead, they show up with consistent compassion, proving that the most intense protection isn't a shield, but a presence. 🛡️☕ Their journey to a secluded island wasn't just a getaway; it was a sanctuary. The layered POVs gave so much depth to their "messy" honesty, making every guitar chord and shared midnight tea feel like a hard-won victory in their collective recovery. 🏝️🎧 🎙️ The Audio: A Trio of Heavy Hitters While the reading experience was incredibly intense, the audio brought a whole different "sauce" to the story: Vivienne LaRue: She captured Cleo’s "guarded" nature with such grace. You could hear the vibration of her trauma and the slow, cautious way she began to breathe again. Jason Clarke: As Eddie, Jason brought that…
