Description

Deep within a frozen, hidden landscape lies the Aviary, an opulent prison designed by a man known only as the Fowler. Within these walls, the elite indulge in cruel, depraved amusements, while a group of captives—the Flock—struggles to endure. Among them is a woman trapped between survival and madness, guarded by the Fowler’s three enigmatic sons: Corvin, Ezio, and Aquillus. They are her captors, her tormentors, and perhaps, her only path to salvation. As the days bleed into an endless cycle of psychological tension, the lines between hero and villain disintegrate. To survive the Aviary, she must navigate a dangerous dance with the three men who hold both her freedom and her heart hostage. She arrived as a broken girl, but the harsh reality of her prison is forging something far more volatile: a Firebird. Drawing inspiration from the haunting folklore of the golden bird, Little Bird Lost is a dark, gripping romantic thriller that explores the brutal complexities of trauma and desire. In a house where the only escape is through flight or finality, she must decide if she will break under pressure or emerge from the ashes of her own destruction.

Incredible Read!

It’s been a couple months since I finished reading Little Bird Lost, and to this day, I’m still stunned stupid. This read was just absolutely INCREDIBLE, and I KNOW it’s going to be forever engrained in my mind. This isn’t a romance novel - This is a brilliant, beautifully-written, dark, [unconventionally] romantic, horror MASTERPIECE. I’ve always admired unique, twisted plots and storylines, but this is unlike anything I’ve ever read. It’s a massive read, and it might actually be the longest book I’ve ever read; however, Little Bird Lost is without a doubt in my top 3 reads ever. While LBL can be read as a standalone, I will say, I am SO glad I read Will & Way’s story [the Lost Boys duet] first - I feel it simply magnified the entire experience of LBL to a whole other level. Other than saying that the ending was [my] chef’s kiss, I’m [unfortunately] going to refrain from diving into any details about this book… mainly because… not only do I not know where to start explaining this story, I want you to just dive into it blind [without any spoilers] and truly enjoy and love it [as much as I did and do] if you choose to read it

Top 2023 list

First of all if you need trigger warnings please visit Jessie’s website. Also please go in blind if you have no triggers. That being said this book is a masterpiece. Jessie’s writing is phenomenal. She will suck you into this world. The way she describes everything, I felt like I was there in the main characters world. I wouldn’t call this book a romance. It is definitely contemporary and very dark at times. There are some happy parts. There is found family. The main female character is strong and does not lose herself in this story. I adored the main female character. The main male character, I hated at first but I grew to love him and the other two guys. This is the first time I’ve written my review as I read a book because I didn’t want to forget things to write about. Jessie was kind enough to message me back as I was reading the book. I needed someone to answer my questions. Ok well maybe not so much as answer them, but let me talk. A couple of times in the book there were parts that were like dangling a carrot at a rabbit. It’s so worth the wait though. It’s so hard to write this review without leaving spoilers. I’m probably already stating what other reviewers have written. I’ll sum this up by saying it’s going on my top of 2023 list and will probably be one of those books that stays with me just like Jessie’s other books.

Dark Romance

This book is not for everyone. It is a dark Romance, but not really a love story. Because you have many dark elements in this book. Please read the trigger warnings. Lizzie was kidnapped in forced to do a lot of unbearable things. She is a strong woman trying to hold it together, but there are some parts where she has to fake it for being strong. She will never be the same after what happened. Even at the end of the book, she will never recover. What happened to the other characters in this book or sad they do what they have to do to survive. But it comes with a cost their humanity. I can’t wait to read what happens next with Izzy, and the three guys.

It's been a long time since a book has made me feel so much

I can not give this book enough stars, I felt every word, every emotion, every moment with my entire being, I sobbed from some place deep inside me that this book somehow touched, I fell in love with and hated the "crow" all while wanting to wrap him up, embrace and console him, the twins "eagles" stole my heart and the fact that these four did not end up together (yet?) Broke something in me, I need their HEA with Izzy "Ember" and Corvan, I do NOT care what kind of person that makes me. This book wrecked me in the most horrible and beautiful ways. The Characters were written, hell, this whole entire book was written to consume and consume me it did. I can say with 100% certainty that Jessie Walker is now a favorite author of mine, I cant wait to dive into Mason and Jeremy's book, I was always rooting for them... If you are on the fence about reading this book, I will only say this, it is raw, impactful, horrible and beautiful and written to reach inside you and make you feel All of it, so buckle up and take the plunge, you will not regret it!

An all time favorite

I don’t even know where to start with this one. I do want to say that this book will NOT be for everybody. This is one of, if not the darkest book I’ve read and is not labeled a romance. I went into this blind and if you can, I recommended doing the same. There is almost no way to talk about this without spoilers but it is a captor/ captive story and one of the most enthralling books I have ever read. Think, Still Beating or Hunting Adeline, but the relationship dynamics are with the captors. There are no white knights in this story. This doesn’t skip over ANY of the uncomfortable moments, in fact it’s very full them. We are with the fmc through everything she experiences. Once again, this is very very dark, but the way Jessie wrote these characters, and as things are slowly revealed you can’t help but to fall for them despite the circumstances. This book had me sobbing and gave me approximately 7 heart attacks and I wouldn’t have it any other way. This is a new all time favorite and I mean that with all my heart. I read this on KU and immediately bought the physical copy. Deets * single, first person pov (book 2 will have multiple povs) * MMFM * Cult like setting * Inspired by golden bird/ firebird folklore and fairytales * Full of suspense * Buttload of content and trigger warnings * Seriously, proceed with caution Recommend for fans of the Torment duet or Still Beating if you’re looking for something even darker. Way, way darker.
