Description

Mal is a man haunted by the ghosts of combat, drifting through life with no intention of planting roots. He views himself as a temporary fixture in a world that has already taken too much from him. But his plans for a hollow, transient existence hit a wall when he arrives in Porth Luck and crosses paths with Skylar. Skylar is the town’s dedicated nurse, a man who spends his days mending the broken pieces of everyone around him, all while carefully shielding his own vulnerabilities behind a wall of professional calm. Despite their differences, the connection between the hardened soldier and the guarded caregiver is immediate and magnetic. It is an entanglement that neither man invited, yet both find impossible to resist. Driven by a desperate need to find solace, they enter into a pact built on the fragile promise of just one encounter. What begins as an attempt to quiet the noise in their heads quickly evolves into a collision of two bruised souls. As the lines between an easy fling and a profound, life-altering bond blur, Mal and Skylar must decide if they are brave enough to risk their hearts for a love that promises to finally heal the wounds they’ve both tried so hard to hide.

Just this once became forever

Emotionally.. I’m unwell. On a slow recovery back to love. Just like my baby Sky and Mal I will NEVER be able to read a G.L book and be the same after. She has an uncanny ability to write the best broken to slowly healing boys ever. Every book is a love letter to humans who need a little push to love again. Sky and Mal absolutely stole my heart. The finding of adorable puppy’s to heal over the cravenly pieces of rough hearts- 10/10 🖤🖤🖤🥰🥰🥰🤌🏼🤌🏼🤌🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼

Great story!

This was a hard story to read…hard as emotionally damaging. Mal and Skylar were both hurting sooo bad. They made me cry! I was glad to finally understand why Skylar was the he was with Cam and the Rebel Kings. I wish it was different but then Mal wouldn’t have fit Skylar’s missing pieces. I’m not sure I’m ready for Jack and Sol’s story.

Broken attracts broken.

WOW. I am exhausted. A) no one sleeps in this book and B) the push pull between Mal and Skylar is exhausting. But this is a GOOD book, especially if you have read Devil's Dance and Saint's Song like I have. It was great to see Cam, Saint and a tiny bit of the skilled Alexi again. Two very broken men are in love before they realize it and need each other for sleep, for eating, for release, for grounding, for everything really. Found family and real family come together in a very good read.

I wanted to love it

Sigh. I have mixed emotions about this one. I wanted to love it so badly. I fell in love with the characters almost from page one. But the story was so confusing, using terms I didn’t understand and couldn’t comprehend using context. I still don’t understand Sky’s obsession with white foods. There were just a lot of unanswered questions at the end and I found myself spending more time trying to figure things out then enjoying the story. I wonder if reading the Rebel Kings MC series would help but IDK.

Skylar & Mal!

When two broken souls find each other, they'll either tear each other apart or heal each other in ways they didn't dare dream of. Skylar and Mal meet by chance, are forced together in stressful times and the pressure builds, until it explodes. The explosion is beautiful and heartbreaking. The road to repair is long and full of cracks and holes, but they learn it doesn't have to be traveled alone. Find your favorite reading space, a fuzzy blanket, maybe a couple of tissues and say hello to Skylar and Mal.
