Description

When it comes to love, sometimes the biggest hurdle isn’t the universe—it’s yourself. In Just Kiss Her, Clare Lydon delivers a vibrant, laugh-out-loud romantic comedy that explores the messy, exhilarating reality of falling for someone when life feels like it’s pulling you in a dozen different directions. The story dives deep into the complexities of human connection, navigating the jittery energy of new attraction and the frustrating hesitation of "what if." Our protagonist finds herself drawn into an irresistible dynamic that challenges her perceptions of identity and desire. As she weighs the risks against the pull of a undeniable spark, the narrative captures the authentic, often hilarious struggle of two people trying to find their footing in a dance where the steps change constantly. Lydon masters the art of the slow-burn, blending sharp, witty dialogue with the kind of emotional vulnerability that makes characters leap off the page. It is a heartfelt, inclusive look at bisexuality that avoids stereotypes, choosing instead to focus on the raw, unvarnished beauty of falling for a person regardless of the label. Whether you’re looking for a heartwarming escape or a story that captures the courage it takes to pursue happiness, this novel is a triumphant celebration of love in all its glorious, complicated forms.

A novel holiday

Clare Lydon’s Just Kiss Her is a lovely age-gap, fake girlfriend story taking place during an 11–day destination wedding holiday. At her 29th birthday celebration, Brooke’s gay BFF Noah entreats her to pose as his plus-one girlfriend at his half sister’s wedding in Mexico. The all expenses paid oceanside holiday is too tempting to turn down, so Brooke agrees to go, with Noah promising to come out to his dad. The frenetic family affair presents Brooke with the opportunity to meet Noah’s gorgeous mom, Jen, 15 years Brooke’s senior. But when the two meet there’s nothing fake about their attraction to each other, and their 15-year age gap seems inconsequential. Lydon’s created an engaging, endearing story that’s a great sapphic getaway.
