This is my first book from this series, though I have already purchased a few of the other books to read after. Normally, I do prefer to read a series of books in order, even if the individual stories can be read as standalones. But I have so many I'm juggling, I sometimes have to go with what catches my attention more. Usually, the mention of the other characters will pique my interest in their stories as well, so it all works out in the end.
Dexter & Tripp are so sweet; I love the whole best friends trope, though it always gets to me that even guys who mean the world to one another still take quite a while to realize each other's true feelings. Say what you feel & think, people! Because if guys who already love one another to bits and respect & trust each still need extraordinary circumstances to realize they really are meant to be, than what hope do us mere mortals have of finding our soulmates? Honesty about our feelings, even when we're scared of the reaction, is what is all about. So be true to yourself & at least you won't leave anything on the table or have regrets about what could've been. At least their relationship only has a bit of angst & pining, a lot of steamy times, and definitely a lot of laughter. These guys and their friends & family are a hoot.
I used to avoid hockey romances because of all the sports I'm into, that was the one I knew the least about. But after several MM books with that backdrop, it's actually become one of my favorites to look for. (I…

Adorable best friends to lovers romance!
PoV: dual, 1st person
Genre: sport romance, MM
Tropes / tags: fake marriage, friends to lovers, sexual discovery
This one was a lot of fun and I loved Dex's golden retriever himbo energy! He was completely oblivious to both his own and Tripp's feelings, and it took him quite some time to figure things out. A fake, sort of accidental marriage helped things along, and I loved how Dex's sexual discovery was written.
They were really sweet together and once Dex figured out he was attracted to Tripp things turned steamy - and the dance floor scene was super hot! There was a tinge of heartache though, with Tripp getting everything he'd been pining for, while still not knowing if it was real or not.
Irresponsible Puckboy was a very sweet best friends to lovers romance, with a lot of humour to it. These two were clueless idiots in the best ways and Dex was such an adorable himbo. This is the perfect story for when you're looking for something low angst and sweet that will make you smile a lot!

All the swoony feelings with this book!!! Tripp and Dex were absolutely adorable together. Everyone could see that clueless Dex and secretly pining for his best friend Tripp were head over heels for each other. Everyone but the two of them. They get themselves caught up in a series of mishaps and entangled in one PR nightmare after another, all while dancing around their feelings for one another. But oh was that dance simply glorious! It was so sweet, funny, swoony, and smoking hot! The build up to them taking their friendship to the physical level was fabulous! The UST was strong and when they finally gave in--cue all the butterflies.
I did struggle a bit with some of the actions the collective took initially to try and protect Tripp, it made my heart hurt for poor Dex. But it all worked out so wonderfully in the end I was able to forgive them. Once I got past that initial struggle, the book totally took off and I didn't want to put it down. There were just some wonderfully romantic moments, such tender intimacy between them, and just a deep connection--I could feel their love pouring off the pages. Another fantastic book from this author duo!

Hilarious Hockey Romance with Heart
📖 Irresponsible Puckboy by Eden Finley
Rating: ★★★★☆
A light, funny hockey romance with great banter and queer community vibes.
I give this book a 3.75 rating, because it really is a fine light read that mostly delivers what I wanted from a hockey romance. The humor and banter, especially between Dex and Tripp, made it fun and entertaining and kept me turning pages. At the same time, I struggled with the way Dex’s “I’m dumb” narrative was handled and how Tripp’s long term dedication in unrequited love sometimes felt a little forced instead of organic. So I was invested in their relationship and the world, but not always in love with how their emotional beats were framed.

✨ Light, funny romance ✨
🏒 Hockey and queer community 🏒
💘 Slow burn pining 💘
🧠 A bit contrived angst 🧠
The characters are well developed and that is what kept me reading. Dex’s journey of self discovery and questioning his sexuality adds a nice layer of depth to what could have been just another fluffy hockey romance, and I liked seeing that play out against the backdrop of professional sports. Tripp, with his long standing feelings and emotional vulnerability, brings a lot of heart, and when their friendship starts tipping toward something more it really works. I also really liked the presence of The Queer Collective, that supportive group of queer hockey players that gives the story a sense of community and space to touch on LGBTQ+ issues. For me, the only thing that really held…
Sweet Friends to Lovers Romance!
Irresponsible Puckboy by Eden Finley and Saxon James is a best friends to lovers, fake relationship, hockey romance that's as hilarious as it is heartwarming!
Tripp Mitchell and Dex Mitchale, termed as the "Mitchell Brothers" by the media, are the best of friends with no secrets between them, except for the teeny, tiny one about Tripp being in love with his best friend. When Dex's latest relationship comes to an end because of his commitment issues, he comes up with the brilliant idea of having a trial wedding with his best friend to see if he can make it to the altar after all.
But when that wedding ends up being real and they have to pretend to be together to avoid a PR scandal, he soon realizes that being married to Tripp might just be the easiest thing in the world.
This book has one of the most fun romances I've read in a while! The snark, the banter, the ridiculous situations our two leads manage to get themselves in, and their even more ridiculous ways of dealing with them, kept me laughing the whole way through!
Tripp and Dex love each other thoroughly and wholeheartedly, and through every challenge that was thrown their way, they stood by each other and supported one another through all of it. This book was less about falling in love and more about a realization of love because their entire friendship was built on their love for one another even if they didn't know it yet.
I can't end this without mentioning the Queer Collective. They were on point as usual and…
