Description

What happens when the person you are least supposed to notice becomes the only one who truly sees you? Anna is navigating the chaotic, high-pressure world of boutique wedding planning, where she spends her days orchestrating grand gestures of love for everyone but herself. Brooke is a whirlwind of a bridesmaid—sharp-witted, magnetic, and completely off-limits. When a series of hilarious mishaps and disastrous bachelorette party antics force them into each other’s orbits, the tension between them crackles with an undeniable, electric energy. I Really Do is a vibrant exploration of identity, self-discovery, and the messy, beautiful reality of falling for someone who challenges everything you thought you knew about your own heart. While the romance between Anna and Brooke provides the book’s beating, queer-positive heart, the story goes much deeper. Emily K. Hardy crafts a rich tapestry of friendship where the bonds between chosen family are just as vital as the primary relationship. Filled with side-splitting humor and deeply tender moments, this is a story for anyone who believes that life—much like a wedding—is better when everything goes hopelessly, perfectly wrong. Dive into a world where love doesn’t just show up; it demands to be felt.

They really do!

Wonderful story. I love the fake dating trope but it is rarely really well done. Well, Brooke and Anna’s story was not only done well but also done right! I loved it! I was hooked from the get go and this isn’t a short story, it kept my interest throughout. A bit of a slow burn and when it burned boy oh boy did they burn! I loved the pace, the healing, the awkwardness, the humor, most of the side characters, the romance, the love and the steam. Highly recommend!

Adorable!

When Brooke gets a surprise invite to her estranged brother’s wedding, her friends convince her to invite Anna, the chef she’s been secretly crushing on for ages, to be her fake partner. But the further they lean into their pretend romance, the more real it seems. I Really Do is an adorably heartwarming sapphic romance with a sweet and charming main character and love interest as well as numerous fun side characters. The very real romance that develops seems inevitable from the start, but watching it unfold is enthralling. The way that Brooke grows in the story, leans on her friends, and reconnects with her brother is equally engaging and demonstrates the importance of community and family. Readers who love sapphic fake dating romances will laugh, squeal, and happy cry over I Really Do.

Loved it!

Asking your year-long crush to be you're fake girlfriend for your recently reconnected brother's wedding can't possibly go wrong. Or perhaps, even, it could possibly go rather right ^^ Loved it! Absolutely loved it. Brooke and Anna's relationship was so adorable and heartwarming and wholesome... and the way that Anna is around Brooke right from the start - so so cute. The closeness, the tenderness and understanding, the snuggles. Really, I could gush about those two for ages, and the type of relationship that they have is something to be desired. For Brooke, it is also a story of healing and acceptance, from the trauma that her parents put her through, and Anna is instrumental there in that journey. Thoroughly enjoyable read, and one that I will certainly be reading again.

Everyone needs a little help now and then.

The two main characters genuinely looked out for each other and in doing so, brought a broken family together. It was a very heartwarming story. Overcoming personal trauma and heartbreak can be nearly impossible in certain circumstances but having an understanding friend to hold your hand or just be by your side to help you through the rough spots can help you regain your confidence and eventually you start believing in yourself again. This book also gave us a great look in to the power of true friendships and people who want the best for others. Basically it was a world we all wish we had. Some of us are luckily blessed to have it and know how rare it is!
