Description

Jay Calder has spent his entire professional hockey career clinging to the margins of the league. As a disposable bench player waiting for his inevitable expiration date, he expects nothing more than a few more shifts on the ice. But when he catches the eye of Viktor Hale—a ruthless billionaire who treats people like assets and power like a game—Jay’s quiet obscurity vanishes. Viktor doesn’t just buy a hockey franchise for the sport; he buys it for control. When he sets his sights on Jay, he plunges the unsuspecting athlete into a high-stakes world of illicit secrets, constant surveillance, and dangerous criminal favors. What Jay initially mistakes for a lucky break or a savior’s intervention quickly morphs into a suffocating cage. He isn’t being recruited; he is being collected. As the lines between professional obligation and brutal obsession blur, Jay realizes that survival in Viktor’s world comes with a permanent price tag. Trapped in a gilded cage and surrounded by moral corruption, he finds himself caught in a lethal power play where running is no longer an option. This is a twisted, high-intensity descent into darkness, where the only thing colder than the arena ice is the man who owns his future.

🌶️ spicy

If you love your romance dark, intense, and dripping with tension, Hunted by Ice absolutely delivers. From the very first chapter, I was pulled into a gritty, high-stakes world where power, danger, and obsession collide—and I could not put it down. The chemistry between the main characters is electric. It’s not soft or sweet—it’s sharp, consuming, and a little dangerous in the best way. The push-and-pull dynamic had me hooked, especially with the added layers of secrets, control, and vulnerability woven throughout. You can feel the tension in every interaction. What really sets this book apart is how it blends genres so seamlessly. You get the adrenaline of crime and suspense, the intensity of a dark billionaire trope, and the emotional depth of an MM romance—all wrapped in the fast-paced backdrop of hockey. It’s gritty, seductive, and emotionally charged. The writing is immersive, the stakes feel real, and the ending leaves you desperate for more. If you’re into possessive characters, morally gray choices, and a romance that walks the line between danger and devotion—this is 100% your next obsession. I’m already counting down to the next book. 🔥

Dark, morally gray characters

A dark, compelling start to a hockey romance trilogy with strong tension and morally complex characters. Best for adult readers.. With strong atmosphere, flawed characters, and high emotional stakes, this book will appeal especially to readers who enjoy dark romance, billionaire tropes, and hockey-themed stories.

I Loved It!!

This was a fun and surprising read! I've never read a MM romance before, so I didn't know what to expect! But honestly, it was so great! Victor is this filthy rich man: this cold, indifferent robotic type, who is in the midst of buying a Hockey team. Leaving no stone unturned, he throughly investigates every inch of the place, and finds that the staff is kinda sketchy, kinda shady, and worse, something's wrong with the financials! He immediately starts a hard-core investigation to get to the bottom of this! Meanwhile, Victor has his sights set on Jay, a withdrawn player that the team just desperately wants to get rid of, and he inexplicably wants to help him out. He's confused on why, while coming to terms with his sexuality, which he has buried deep within. But it gets sooo exciting! I can't wait to read the next one! Five stars!

Shady dealings behind the scenes

It really is a dark book. Gives insight to the sometimes shady business side of professional hockey. The “romance “ aspect to the book takes a backseat to the criminal storyline. The premise of the story was a good start, but there’s so much behind the scene maneuvering, you really wonder if the main characters will actually get together or it’s just game playing with Hale using Calder as a pawn. I guess we’ll find out in the next book in the series.

A very intense reading

This book is the first book in a trilogy. It has a very intense tone, and it kept me caught up in the story since the beginning. It does not have a lot of pages and can be read in a few hours. It involves several topics, including money laundering and romance. It made me think about the similarities between this book and real life, how the people with power play with those in need, and how corruption is involved. I liked the tone in which it was written and also that the personalities of the characters are well defined. As this is a trilogy, the end is not the ending of this crime story but a continuation for the next book.
