If I would’ve known it was a cliffhanger I would’ve waited until next year for the final book! Ugh! All that to say the book is really good, as all of hers are. But the first part is kinda slow and I didn’t like the way Tristen was treated after the wedding by Mark. But we all know Mark is a hard character to read. The second half is better and the cliffhanger is crazy! Next book is Marks story so I’ll be looking forward to it.

The taboo, forbidden love triangle and the power dynamics between Mark, Tristan and Isolde are big in this book. All three characters find themselves tangled in deeper, darker emotional and sexual territory as secrets, loyalties and desires collide. The story continues the intrigue of the series, with twists, secrets and rising stakes tied to both emotional conflict and external threats. Beyond the spice, the story explores control, desire, and emotional dominance. There’s real emotional angst and heartbreak. Tristan’s loyalty and vulnerability, Isolde’s internal conflict, and Mark’s secretive intensity. This book was hot and addictive. The chemistry between the characters was amazing. The storyline is captivating, weaving together plots that kept me glued to the pages.

I almost DNFed this so many times but kept reading because Sierra Simone is a masterful storyteller, but this is terrible. None of the characters are likable. Three books in and I don’t care about any of them. The whole time I was reading, I was thinking about how much I miss Ash, Embry and Greer.

But I suppose good things come to those who wait… I’m looking forward to the pain and pleasure! PS this will be one of my fav books of the year, just like Salt Kiss was last year. Oscar and Isabella ARE Mark, Tristan, and Isolde… they have absolutely brought them to life and I was completely enthralled (or maybe in thrall to be honest — been listening to some vampire books lol). The narration was perfection — the emotions so dynamic and intense, I felt like I was a fly on the wall to everything going on with these characters, unfortunately with my little fly eyes covered, damn it. Every single thing was perfect, would change absolutely nothing. I need everyone to stop what they are doing and LISTEN NOW!
