Description

Ward Freeman has spent his life believing he knew exactly who he was—until the shadows of uncertainty began to creep in. Hoping to explore his hidden desires without the pressure of a traditional relationship, the gentle, muscular handyman turns to a male escort for a no-strings-attached trial run. He expects a simple night of discovery; he doesn’t expect to meet Skylar. Skylar Evans is desperate to escape his past and the soul-crushing reality of his profession. He plans to save enough money to vanish, leaving behind his boyfriend, Charlie, in hopes that Charlie will find a better, more stable life without him. But when Ward enters the picture, the chemistry is undeniable, turning Skylar’s exit strategy upside down. As Ward finds himself drawn into the complexities of their lives, he realizes he doesn’t want just one of them—he wants both. But convincing Charlie to share and Skylar to stay requires breaking down walls built by years of fear and self-sacrifice. In this emotional conclusion to the Wine Country Daddies series, three men must confront their insecurities to see if they can forge an unconventional, permanent family—or if, despite their growing connection, they are destined to let one another go.

Wringer

So, I’m not going to give you a rehash of the plot. Scroll back up if that’s what you’re looking for. I’m going to speak to the emotional impact of this novel. This installment of the Wine Country Daddies series is no holds barred, rip your beating heart out of your chest, run it through the wringer, stomp on it like grapes, and sew it back together. If you’re even slightly sentimental, you will feel all the emotions and go back for more. I think I need a new box of tissues… So it’s a romance. You start the book with a vague understanding of the general ending. I, however, was not anticipating that the terrain traversed to get there was pulled out of a Mad Max story.

Have Tissues Handy

This wine country daddies story really packs an emotional punch. There are so many deep rooted fears that cause these men to almost loose everything. There are a couple of really dramatic scenes so have those tissues handy.

A beautiful happily ever after for this couple. I love watching their love grow, their happiness shine, and finally learn that communication really is key.

Love the representation ❤️

His Boys to Protect is the 6th and final book in the Wine Country Daddies series. It features a Daddy who always thought he was straight, a trans boy with the most adorably creative curses, and an autistic boy who may be nonverbal but has other ways to communicate. There were moments that made me laugh and those that brought tears to my eyes. While the page count is longer than your average romance novel, I found it to be the perfect length for everything the characters needed to go through to reach their HEA. One of my favorite features of this book is the representation. Not only do we get to know Skylar, a trans boy who had been working as an escort so he can afford surgery, but we also get to know his boyfriend, Charlie. While I’ve read some books with autistic characters, Charlie is the first nonverbal neurodivergent character I’ve come across and I loved the way he was represented. He may have had more support needs (a lot of which I really relate to myself, just to a lesser extent), but Ward never batted an eye at any of them. He made both of his boys feel safe, which is part of why he became their Daddy when Skylar and Charlie had already been together. If you have read the other books in the series, you’ll recognize some familiar faces, such as Charlie’s brother, Dakota. If you haven’t read the rest of the series yet, that’s ok too, as this book can still be enjoyed as a standalone (though I’m sure you’ll want to go back and read everyone else’s stories after…
