*cues up You Are My Sunshine to play softly in the background*
With their names finally cleared, the Hard Ink crew is adjusting to being free to live normal lives. They've all found their soul mates, have started their new business, and are looking forward to the future. It's a beautiful thing.
This story, while it includes all of our beloved characters, does mainly focus on Nick and Becca, the couple that started it all. After two months of always being within touching distance of each other, Becca is heading back to her nursing job. The time apart is already something they are dreading, yet it's another step towards normalcy. Becca is a little hesitant to return to the scene of her attempted kidnapping, but she knows she needs to conquer those fears in order to move on.
She gets a welcome back party from her co-workers, making her feel special, and hits the ground running on her first day back, which is a busy one, ensuring her brain doesn't have time to wander. She also gets the official all clear from the hospital's psychiatrist, allowing her to breathe a sigh of relief. Unfortunately, that relief doesn't last long as she starts seeing Tyrell Woodson, her attacker, everywhere and receives a cruel delivery. But Woodson is gone, right? He quickly took off for parts unknown, unable to return upon fear of retribution from the Churchmen if the crew releases the video of his confession.
As Becca adjusts to working again and the aftereffects of her attack, she asks Nick for…

but the couples of quickly become my favorite contemporary heroes
Since the first book of the Hard Ink series was released I have been hooked. Each book has only improved and the characters have not only been memorable, but the couples of quickly become my favorite contemporary heroes. I think what I love the most about the series is how refreshing and thrilling the novels have turned out. Before Laura Kaye and her military men of Hard Ink I was not a fan of romantic suspense and now that has all changed.
I am not going to hide the fact that Nick and Becca have been my top choice for favorites out of all the characters. When I learned that the author was allowing an open poll for readers to have a bonus, marriage book from the Hard Ink I instantly voted for both Nick and Becca. I was beyond excited when I learned the news that the couple had won and this is book has quickly became a second best-loved novella.
Like the previous novels this book took off with a punch with the duo trying to focus on their wedding plans as well as moving forward with their future. The past however is determined not to allow the twosome to have their own HEA ending. The book had a powerful, outstanding romance that sizzled with steamy love scenes followed by intense action scenes.
By far I was not disappointed by any means with this book. The novella has to be one of the most well written novellas that I have ever had the pleasure of reading. I would not only suggest reading this farewell novella from Hard Ink, but if you haven't already read the series it…
“So let’s raise a glass to the couple who brought us all together. May love, peace, and happiness be your constant companions. To Nick and Becca.”
Hear, hear! To Nick and Becca indeed! When Laura Kaye announced this special wedding novella and allowed the fans to vote on which Hard Ink couple to feature, I was torn. I loved all of them and would love to see all of their weddings, but I think the fans chose correctly when they voted Nick and Becca to receive the honors. It sort of brings everything back full circle since they were the ones that started it all and brought together this amazing group of characters that became like family to me as I read the series last year. All of the love and feelings that this series brought out of me at that time came flooding back as soon as I started reading this. Laura Kaye was sure to include all of the things we loved about this series in this novella, giving it a wonderfully nostalgic feel. And true to form, this book featured plenty of scorching hot scenes and a suspenseful subplot that’ll keep you flipping pages!
This group fought hard to get to this point and I couldn’t be happier for Nick and Becca and all of the other awesome updates we got on the rest of the gang. You’ll fall even more in love with these characters as they prove yet again what an amazing group of guys and gals they are and what an amazing family-by-choice that they’ve created for themselves. It warms my heart to think of where they are now versus where they…

A wedding novella done the Hard Ink way!
Oh, the feels! I can’t even begin to describe all the lovely feels I got from reading Hard Ever After! First, the Hard Ink series is one of my favorite romantic suspense series. Reading each story in this series just pulls you into a wild ride with the team each and every single time. I loved the first book, Hard As It Gets! Hard As It Gets was the book when we were first introduced to Nick’s friends, and they would form a team and pursue a mission that would span the entire series. More importantly, I also adored Hard As It Gets because it was Nick and Becca’s story. All throughout the series we saw snippets of their love for one another grow. Reading Hard Ever After was such a special treat for me!
Laura Kaye maintains the steam and romance in this particular novella. The opening is just…wow! You’ll need to fan yourself right then and there. Both Nick and Becca start thinking about what they want in the future. Nick, especially, really wants more with Becca, so the wheels start turning in his handsome head, and it all begins there. This is a true wedding novella. Ms. Kaye takes you through all the beautiful moments and makes it so very special for this particular couple. Then there is threat and nail-biting suspense, and this wouldn’t be a Hard Ink novella without any of that going on throughout the plot. Let’s just say that the team works well under pressure and everything is done the Hard Ink way! Yeah! It was awesome seeing everyone work together again, and we get…
I loved getting more of the Hard Ink series because this was one series that I really didn't want to end.
Series: Hard Ink #4.6
--One Sentence Summary--
Things were finally starting to return to normal for Nick and Becca, and a wedding is on the horizon, but Becca can't shake the feeling that she's being watched.
--What are the Issues--
This is a novella follow up to the Hard Ink series, so it's a little different. Everything is great between Nick and Becca but there are outside forces causing problems. Everyone has been living in crisis mode and returning to normal has been tough. Not only that, but Becca is struggling with some lingering PTSD after her attack at the hospital.
--What I Liked and Didn’t Liked--
Nick and Becca -- From the very beginning, Nick and Becca have been my favorite couple and I was so happy to get more time with them as well as seeing everyone in the group. Nick was his usual tough but super sweet self and I love how he is with Becca and how he cherishes everything about her. This couple epitomizes the idea of supporting each other and being a rock for each other.
Final Closure -- Although we got a lot of closure in Hard to Let Go it was great to see everyone again. We also get to see the new normal that the group has, their upcoming security business, renovating the Hard Ink building into apartments for everyone, and moving on in each of their relationships.
--Final Thoughts--
I loved getting more of the Hard Ink series because this was one series that I really didn't want to end.
