Fragments: Alabaster Penitentiary, Book 4

Fragments by Nyla K, in the fourth book Luthor and Ren get to have their intense love story. I have been waiting for this book since Distorted (Book 1) and I am in awe of Nyla K's writing and genius mind. Nyla has written the masterpieces with the Alabaster Penitentiary series. Every book has its own vibe and crazy amazing love story. I love every one of them. Fragments have become my favorite. Before it was Dash & Kemper's story Distorted. Warren Xavier - REN is every man's dream (outside), inside his mind is another story. I feel you, my dear Ren and I love you till the end of time. He has so many issues that this book is only the tip of the iceberg. He is an arsonist, liar, and the most misunderstood character I have read about. He uses sex as a substitute to fill the void in his soul until he meets Luthor. The sweetest and the most lovable man in AP. Oh boy, do they have “fireworks” in their story during 4-5 years, finally coming together in the future? Love scenes are so hot and honest between them. Lex “Luthor” Deon is the sweetest and the most loyal person Ren meets in prison and in his life. He is obsessed from first sight and he thinks that Lex “Luthor” is too perfect to be in the dungeon. Luthor is a genius and hacker, the reason why he was brought to this prison. We do not know the whole story because the author will reveal it all in good time. This is the story that we all have been waiting for! I was not disappointed in the least. These two had such a toxic and rocky relationship. Their story was for sure a rollercoaster ride. We already knew Ren was a hot mess, but damn! He has serious issues and seeing glimpses of his past definitely had me make sense of present Ren. Lex just melted my heart again and again. He’s so young, naive, and adorable. He’s the last person you would expect at Alabaster. No wonder Ren wanted to sink his claws into him. We see past events through the eyes of Lex and Ren. So many questions were answered with new questions arising. It was nice to see the other Alabaster prisoners and guards that we have come to love and adore. This book definitely takes you through soooo many emotions! At times I had to remind myself to breathe. I do have a few criticisms. The main being the length of the book and the pacing at times. I’m not going to lie, the first 50% of the book is a bit slow, not the storyline itself but the repetitive nature of the series as a whole. The storylines overlap in each book and we start from the beginning each time. It takes until the second half to get to the events that occur at the end of “Brainwashed”. Dash and his antics, The Carver arriving, phone calls….etc are told again through the POV of Ran and Lex but their perspectives don’t really add anything in some circumstances. It’s like reading Distorted and Joyless again at times. The book definitely could have been…

I love long books, I love being immersed in worlds with epic love, triumph after tragedy, edgy hot sexy drama with powerful characters with real world issues that touch on all these things but don’t drown you in them. I can’t get enough of the hot unapologetic rough dirty sex these boys engage in. I love the dynamic and interplay of all these things characters from this and the previous books in this series and others in different Nyla K worlds get up to, I love how she weaves and ties together these people and I really really like the author notes at the end of each book. Fragments had it all, man I love a HEA plus cliffhanger. Please release Shadowman soon I am so anxious to find out what happens next!

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 🌶🌶🌶🌶 “𝐁𝐞𝐜𝐚𝐮𝐬𝐞 𝐡𝐞’𝐬 𝐦𝐢𝐧𝐞. 𝐖𝐡𝐞𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐫 𝐡𝐞 𝐰𝐚𝐧𝐭𝐬 𝐭𝐨 𝐛𝐞 𝐨𝐫 𝐧𝐨𝐭.” This series is unlike anything I've read before. I cannot accurately put into words how unbelievably obsessed with it I am. Nyla has been teasing Ren & Lex since book 1 and we finally FINALLY get to see the depths of their relationship. The overlapping timelines and scenes from other POVs is probably my favorite thing ever. It's like taking a walk down memory lane. And the amount of easter eggs/connections 🤯🤯This felt like a really complete wrap up of all the scenes/hints we got in the first few books and I LOVED IT. Obviously we also got hints at what's to come and 😱🤯🙈 "𝐁𝐮𝐭 𝐣𝐮𝐬𝐭 𝐤𝐧𝐨𝐰, 𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐲 𝐦𝐨𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐈’𝐦 𝐰𝐢𝐭𝐡 𝐲𝐨𝐮… 𝐢𝐬 𝐟𝐢𝐫𝐞𝐰𝐨𝐫𝐤𝐬 𝐨𝐯𝐞𝐫 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐨𝐜𝐞𝐚𝐧.” Ren & Lex were surprisingly ADORABLE and goofy together. Don't get me wrong... they were toxic AF at first and definitely codependent, but the corny jokes and swoony nicknames were the perfect antidote. Don't be fooled though, the content is dark. Ren is a s*x add!ct who uses pain and s*x to cope. They fight tooth and nail to get to their ending and their journey is really really beautiful. I can't not mention the spice, because even though the craziest they got was some role play (oh and that little thing with the tattoo gun 🤭) the needy obsession and passion was OOZING off the pages. They were so MFing hot together and Ren going feral over nervous shy boy energy…

How does Nyla continue to dish out, hit after hit? I don't know, but I sure am thankful for it. This book was incredible. This whole series has been phenomenal. I had been wondering throughout this series what Lex had done to end up in such a terrible place, seeming as he appeared to be the most normal, level headed guy in the place. Boy, did Nyla deliver that story in an atomic way. The relationship between Ren and Luth will literally make you swoon, then your heart will break, then the pieces will be put back together again. Seeing Ren's character development and how hard he loves. Yes, he made some poor choices, but at the end of the day, the man just wants to be loved and cared for. His childhood trauma really made its mark on him. Fortunately with Luth trying to keep him on the straight and narrow, we see him really grow into a man and come to the realization that at the end of the day, all he needs is Luth's love and affection. Oh my sweet flame, how I want to give you the biggest hug. Also, that ENDING! How dare you Nyla!
