Description

Logan Miller lived his life in color-coded files and predictable patterns. He was the perfect, structured partner to Salem, until the foundation of his reality—his past and his very identity—crumbled under the weight of a life-altering secret. Now, the man who prided himself on checking every box is lost, realizing that the life he meticulously built was a facade for someone he never truly knew. Salem lives life through the lens of her camera, capturing what she can’t control. After being left behind in a wreckage of abandonment and a hollow marriage, she has vowed to never rely on anyone again. Cold, guarded, and hardened by her past, she has no interest in revisiting the man who broke her heart, especially when he finally seems to be unraveling. As the physical miles between them shrink, the emotional distance becomes impossible to ignore. Forged in the aftermath of broken expectations, their journey is one of raw vulnerability and shattering discovery. In this intense exploration of identity and desire, Logan and Salem must face the wreckage of their history. It is a story of second chances, long-overdue queer awakenings, and the courage to redefine love on their own terms.

emotional rollercoaster 5/5⭐

The angst! The Tears! The Anger!! This book is definitely an emotional rollercoaster and I AM HERE FOR IT!!! Logan... I felt for the man more than I did for Salem honestly. Don't get me wrong Salem does have her own trauma and I did fell bad towards the end of the book but she was so mean to Logan when he was trying. And don't even get me started on Devon! My God do I need Devon and Christian's story ASAP! JUST DOWNLOAD THE BOOK AND READ IT!! 5/5⭐

I missed this crew so much !!!!

3.75⭐ I didn’t realize how much I missed this crew until I got them all back in Exposing Colorado. They are messy but they are family. The trauma, the hurts, the angry words…its like watching a train wreck but you can’t look away. We learn more of their backstories and home life growing up. It makes your heart hurt and ache for them. You begin to understand their messiness but also their love for each other. Did I think Salem was a bit hateful at times? Absolutely, but I think I kinda understand why she was too. I didn’t necessarily agree with her attacking Devon. I do think she needed therapy to start healing from her past. Their HEA is a bit unconventional (not really my fav) but it works out okay for me. If this had just been Logan and Salem I’m not sure I would have loved it as much as I did but since we get the whole crew back, I read it within a days time. I cannot wait for Devon’s story!

Surprised, it was ok.

I don’t dislike the book overall — it’s engaging and thought-provoking — but the Incest-coded desire is not something readers should have to discover mid-story. This should be something that is definitely in the trigger warning list. I checked it twice and the word incest should be listed. I definitely love this author and I don't want to harm her career or anything of that sort, I'm just stating my discomfort. For example, I've stopped reading many authors sequels because of incest coded Desire, is an extremely niche trope and it needs to be disclosed. Logan is extremely frustrating as an MC I went into this book not especially interested in Logan or Salem, but I was intrigued by Salem’s dominant s** preferences. Which we didn't really get to read more on. My enjoyment dropped sharply once it’s hinted that something s* happened with his “uncle.” Logan’s attraction is framed as existing while he believed this man was a family member, which made continuing genuinely uncomfortable. Even though they aren’t biologically related, and barely saw each other, he did fantasize about him while knowing it was his uncle. Devon definitely had more depth us a character, deeply troubled and complicated. The entirety premise of Devon and Logan is uncomfortable. The more you learn about Logan honestly the less interesting he is. I'm very confused on the many themes within the book and while thought provoking it just kind of made me lose deep interest after like 46% of the book. I guess you…

Salem and Logan 📸❤️

I absolutely love Bree's writing and her broken, messy characters. Logan and Salem's story was heartbreaking and sent me on a rollercoaster of emotions. They both love and care for each other so much, but don't know how to go about loving each other or be what each other needs because of their different upbringings. Their journey is a long and tough road for sure. As I approached the end of the book I wasn't sure if I would like the ending. But this was such a unique HEA and I found it really beautiful. It wasn't what I was expecting but it works really well for Logan and Salem. I hope we get a more expanded story with the new characters introduced (maybe some short stories or a novella in the future?). I also really enjoyed having a few chapters in Devon's POV (he is easily my favorite character in Bree's universe aside from Xed). His story will be the most heartbreaking I fear but I'll be so happy to read about him finally getting a much needed HEA. Note: This cannot be read as a standalone, needs to be read after the other 2 books in the State of Us series. There are a lot of big content warnings so make sure to check those out before diving in to this book. If you're okay with high angst and a non-monogamous HEA I would recommend this book! I received an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts are my own and this is my honest and freely given review.
