Description

Life in the NHL is fast, brutal, and obsessed with image, and no one knows this better than Ezra McAdams. As a star player for the Philadelphia Puckboys, Ezra has spent years cultivating a persona that is as flashy as his slapshots. But behind the charismatic, egotistical public image lies a man who is tired of the charade—and his worst headache comes in the form of his teammate, Julian Halloway. Julian is everything Ezra isn't: quiet, grounded, and unimpressed by the spotlight. Forced to navigate a forced-proximity situation that turns their icy professional distance into a charged, volatile rivalry, the two men clash at every turn. Their banter is sharp, their tempers are short, and the friction between them creates a heat that neither is prepared to handle. As the lines between teammates and lovers begin to blur, both men must confront their own internal battles with identity and authenticity. Eden Finley delivers a charming and witty enemies-to-lovers romance that captures the high-stakes world of professional hockey without the heavy angst. It is a heartwarming, addictive exploration of self-discovery, proving that sometimes, the person who pushes your buttons the hardest is the one who truly sees you.

Rivals to lovers story that is fiery, fun and HOT!!!

I completely devoured this book in 1 day!!! Snarky banter, hilarious commentary, HOT spice that hits early, and a rivals dynamic that was just so addicting to read that I was HOOKED from the start! Just a FANTASTIC MM hockey romance!! I have read and loved books by these authors separately but together they make magic with addicting storylines and characters that keep you entranced into the book! I have now read the first 2 books in this series and already downloaded the 3rd! 🏒MM Romance 🏒Hockey 🏒Rivals to Lovers 🏒Low Angst 🏒All The Spice Anton and Ezra just moved up the list as some of my fav characters! They start out as two rival hockey players with opposite personalities that created tension and banter that was off the charts!! It’s one of those rivals to lovers storylines that is addicting to read as not only is their banter and snarky commentary hilarious but off the ice their dynamic is exactly the same creating the best push/pull in the bedroom! Even as they heat up, their rivalry doesn’t just instantly change either but instead develops gradually and realistically throughout the story which I loved! Add in the personal growth that Anton goes through with publicizing his sexuality and it all just created a phenomenal storyline and is a new favorite MM romance for me! AUDIO: Do yourself a favor and get this one on audio!!!! Iggy Toma and Alexander Cendese could not have been more perfectly casted for Anton & Ezra! They both fit the personalities of these…

Unexpected Success

I so did not expect to enjoy this book as much as I did! I’ve heard about this series for ages and always put it off because the blurb felt like every other MM hockey blurb out there. And trust me, this book isn’t winning any awards for original ideas or characters anytime soon. But you cannot read this book and deny that it was entertaining. I’m a sucker for banter and I quite enjoyed the dialogue between our MMCs. Ezra could be a bit much sometimes with his innuendos but once you knew more about his history and fears, it all was a lot easier to stomach. Anton was a surprise because I expected from the first few chapters that he was going to be a bit uptight and boring, but I loved how he held his own with Ezra’s antics and that he gave as good as he got. While the story wasn’t anything new, I still really enjoyed the characters and love story. I could have used more scenes showing how these two fit together outside of the bedroom, and for that it lost a star, but the rest of it was fun and entertaining while still having some character arcs that helped to carry the plot. This is also an interesting world because I didn’t realize going into it that there would be so many call backs to other Eden Finley books and characters. I’ve read almost all of the ones referenced in this book but so long ago that most of the characters felt new to me. I never struggled to understand the story so it’s safe to say you don’t need to have read all of Eden Finley’s backlog to enjoy this…

That’s Boston Hockey, Baby!!

5 ⭐️ 4 🌶️ You had me at Boston hockey. From the jump, Ezra and Anton serve up peak rivals to lovers energy: equal parts ego, sexual tension, and chirping that could start a brawl. Ezra is the out-loud and proud wildcard with zero filter and a flair for chaos, while Anton is all scowls, control, and hockey-first intensity. Their banter is brutal, their chemistry delicious, and their ability to deny their feelings? Absolutely pathetic. In the best way. You’ll be rooting for them even as they try to out-snark each other into oblivion. But underneath all the snark and steam, there’s heart. The found family vibes? Chef’s kiss. Ezra brings the wild energy, Anton brings the grounding force, and together they figure out how to be more than just a headline or hookup. There’s growth, vulnerability, and enough emotional depth to keep you fully invested without ever losing the fun. Don’t even get me started on the spice. It kicks in early and does not let up. If you like your romance fast, filthy, and full of feelings, this one’s a no-brainer. Puckboys brings the heat, the heart, and the hockey, all wrapped in sass and sweat. Anton and Ezra don’t just score, they leave a mark. I want an Ezra!!!

Entertaining banter & tension!

Rating: 4 Steam: 3 PoV: dual, 1st person Genre: contemporary romance, MM Main tropes: sport, rivals to lovers, humour I don't know why I'd been feeling a little hesitant to start this series, but I'm really happy that I was convinced to pick this one up. It had the vibes that I needed at the time, and I loved Ezra and Anton's banter! I really enjoyed Egotistical Puckboy, the push and pull between Ezra and Anton was both hot and entertaining, and it's always fun when rivals realise it's actually attraction they're feeling. Ezra's antics were fun and sort of endearing, he could be a total drama queen and didn't always know when to stop or be quiet, but that was part of his charm. I loved how Anton could ground Ezra and make him feel safe enough to show some vulnerability, instead of the mask he usually wore as the cocky and egotistical puckboy. While there was a lot of humour in the story, it also had heavier topics mixed in such as parental pressure and emotional neglect, that added some depth and layers to the characters. It was still overall a light-hearted story, with a lot of focus on the banter and tension between Ezra and Anton. Egotistical Puckboy was a great start of a series and there were a lot of characters introduced here that I'll love to see more of. I'm very happy that I gave this one a chance, it had been on my TBR for far too long. If you want something with a lot of banter and humour and hockey players going from rivals to hookups to teammates to…

Worth 3.5, but I’d rather the hockey be right

OK, I’m like a broken record. But hockey romance books are hard for me to read. I care way too much about the hockey, and really don’t care about the romance. I’m deep into the SaDenVerse (most books are re-reads), and I said during Frat Wars reviews I was happy to have a break from the hockey of it all. But now we are onto Puckboys. What’s a five-minute major penalty and a twenty-thousand-dollar fine” -the penalty? Maybe. Could be anything or nothing. However, that fine wouldn’t happen. The max would be $5000. It could be up to $10k, but that’s so rare, I can’t ever remember seeing it. “Two more series and the Cup would’ve been ours. So close yet so far. -dumbest line ever. Players don’t even think in terms of “2 more GAMES and the Cup is ours.” It’s game by game, period by period. Losing in the ECSF is SO FAR away from the Cup. But I do appreciate the capitalization of Cup. A lot of authors who write hockey romance have issues with that. “Then I come face-to-face with said wall and find my worst nightmare. Philly fans.” -🧡🖤 “This time though, I had to pick the year to go when my team was knocked out of the playoffs so close to the end.” -they weren’t that close! “I stare out my window at TD Garden across the street, where I need to be in fifteen minutes to suit up for the game” -you know the players get there like 2 hours before, right? It’s my turn to condescendingly tell Anton, “Good game,” as I shake his hand -First, since it’s pre-season, the likelihood of…
