Description

Dr. Maggie Laurel has spent the last six years curating a fortress of professional perfection. At Oakridge Hospital, she is the impenetrable attending physician—composed, brilliant, and determined to keep her heart under lock and key following a devastating loss. She avoids complications, she avoids romance, and she absolutely avoids crossing lines with her subordinates. Enter Dr. Evelyn Brooks. A fearless, stubborn resident with a penchant for challenging Maggie’s authority, Evie is a breath of chaotic fresh air in the sterile halls of the ER. Where Maggie is brittle and guarded, Evie is fiercely compassionate and impossibly observant, seeing straight through the armor Maggie has spent years constructing. What begins as professional friction quickly ignites into a dangerous, electric attraction. Between high-stakes consults and hushed moments in quiet on-call rooms, the boundary between mentor and student dissolves. But when a career-threatening scandal forces their secret into the interrogation of their peers, the cost of their passion becomes clear. Now, Maggie must decide if her carefully guarded reputation is worth the price of the life she’s rediscovered. In a world of rigid hierarchies and lingering grief, Evie demands to be seen, leaving Maggie with no choice but to break her own rules for a chance at love.

another winner

This series addresses many different women with very different needs & expectations. This one dealt with death & love & differences in between in a subdued way which I think is good. 👍🏻

Beat of the series!

This is by far the best book I have read in the series. I read the first one. Started second but didn't finish it so I moved to this one and it was just has a better storyline and much more intriguing characters. great book!

Not all that

I found this one lacking. Two grown women who are doctors having to stay away from one another at work just seemed like two teenagers being kept away from each other by religious homophobic parents.

choosing love..

It’s always nice when an author inserts simple truths we tend to forget. We can’t control life, what people think or say about us. That our greatest lessons come from our most difficult experiences. That we should choose happiness. In case it’s not obvious I really liked this book. Besides the simple truths the story was compelling, and well written.

Unexpected

To living or to surviving. Parker writes of loss and love. The characters are truthfully written to show vulnerability , fear and hope. Despite rumors and meddling, can Maggie and Evie allow bravery and love to lead them ?
