Description

Ashlyn Hayes is one of Hollywood’s most beloved actresses, but beneath the red-carpet glamour and polished smiles, she is suffocating under the weight of a carefully curated public persona. When persistent threats force her to hire a private security detail, she ends up with Jordan Rhodes—a stoic, observant bodyguard who is as far from the glitz of Tinseltown as you can get. To throw the paparazzi off the scent and protect Ashlyn’s image, the two agree to a fake relationship. It is supposed to be a purely professional arrangement, a performance designed to keep the world guessing while Jordan keeps the threats at bay. However, the lines between their staged affection and reality begin to blur as they are forced into the intimacy of shared hotel rooms and whispered secrets. As they navigate the high-stakes world of fame, the walls they’ve built around their hearts start to crumble. Jordan is wrestling with ghosts from her own past, while Ashlyn struggles to find her authentic self in a city built on deception. In a world where every move is monitored, can a love rooted in a lie find the strength to become the only truth they both need?

Carry on with the great writing Rachel Lacey while I look for my next bodyguard book

I'm on a bodyguard reading kick right now, only wlw of course. I read this one for the first time about a year ago and somehow, I didn't leave a review. ( I'm good at hopping from one book to another and forgetting to write one. oopsy) I loved the bodyguard part but as stories go I always hate someone's parent dying. ( too much like real life) I know it's necessary to show why Natalie is so effed up. Rachel wrote a great ending to this story and that is always a plus in my eyes.

cute and captivating

I really enjoyed the storyline and the emotional growth of the characters in this book. I’d been putting it off for a while but I’m glad I finally picked it up and took a chance on it because it was such a cute story.

Romance, Steam, and Angst!

When successful movie star Natalie Keane hires Taylor Vaughn to be her bodyguard and fake girlfriend, it doesn't take long for their pretend attraction to spark very real feelings, but with both women deeply scarred by the past, is a Hollywood-style happy ending possible? Strictly speaking, Cover Story is a celebrity romance. Natalie Keane is a successful film actress whose career is at a high point thanks to a recent Golden Globe nomination. She has an entourage and even lives in a large house that boasts its own observatory with a telescope. But that being said, this is not the glitzy, glamourous, escapist story some readers might associate with the celebrity romance trope. While she may be a powerful star to the outside world, internally, Natalie is quiet, introspective, and perpetually haunted by a traumatic incident from her past. Her carefully insulated world is an extension of the emotional barriers she's built around her heart. Enter Taylor Vaughn, the sexy, competent bodyguard Natalie hires to pose as her girlfriend while providing extra security. On the surface, she's the perfect heroine to rescue the reclusive Natalie, all while their attraction sizzles to the point of combusting. But Taylor has vulnerabilities and self-doubts too, and the closer she gets to Natalie, the more she risks pushing past her own physical and emotional limitations. Cover Story has plenty of Hollywood excitement, including red carpet interviews and movie stunts. And there is no…

Chemistry/connection & spice were great, but there was so much potential for a better story!

The potential of this story was high and the chemistry and connection between the characters was well done, but the "climax" was anti-climatic unfortunately. The author could have done so much more with a story about a stalker and fame. The spicy scenes were very well written/very hot, but I wish we had a more exciting ending with higher stakes and a bigger reward for the high stakes. I had to dock 1 star for that.
