Description

Josephine "Jo" Blake prides herself on being a professional boundary-crosser, but her latest challenge is personal. After a scorching, anonymous night of passion with a mysterious stranger in a wolf mask, Jo arrives at work on Monday to find that her one-night wonder is none other than Alexandra Morgan, her cold, calculating new VP. Alex is the picture of corporate icy perfection, and she is determined to keep their scandalous encounter buried in the past. To her, the promotion was strictly business, and their chemistry is a catastrophic, irrelevant accident that threatens her carefully controlled empire. She tries to hide behind HR policies and cold stares, but she has drastically underestimated Jo. Having already glimpsed the raw, uninhibited woman beneath the power suit, Jo is not about to let these sparks be extinguished by a desk and a spreadsheet. What follows is an addictive game of cat and mouse fueled by coded emails, lingering glances, and a mounting tension that becomes impossible to ignore. As they tangle with themes of power, vulnerability, and the delicious danger of forbidden desire, they must decide if their careers are worth more than the electric connection pulling them together.

Is it hot in here??

This is a VERY steamy well-written debut romance. What prevented me from giving it five stars instead of four was due to skirting the line of consent. While corporate VP Alex certainly came away with some feelings after her initial “anonymous” encounter with Jo and was trying to keep things professional, Jo came on pretty strong and didn’t always back off when asked. Whether or not she really wanted Jo to back off was neither here nor there. Her boundaries should have been respected. That said - the chemistry was sizzling and their encounters white-hot. I enjoyed it and look forward to another read by this author!

great read

Yes, a very good read, very good character development, I don’t know whether I like Alex or Jo more. I fit Jo the best with an Alex leading me on.

Wit and spice that stays with you

I go through a lot of content in this niche, a lot is enjoyable but soon forgotten. This one I still think about often. The humor, the competence kink, power imbalance role reversal, emotionally healthy problem solving without losing all the hot tension. Kept me invested to the very last page, and apparently even after that.

Alexandra is not Josephine boss, Alex just directs.

The Halloween party, the big bad wolf and little riding Hood and they went off to investigate each other. Until Alex realizes that she can no longer think correctly not without Jo. Hello! What follows is the Human Resources officer thinking this could get worse or better. Enjoy!

A Intellectual Chase

I don't give recaps or spoilers. This is a well written and thought out romantic work place romance. The humor is as sexy as the chase. My attention was captured by the happenstance meeting. The oh my what did do and with whom moment. I stayed awake reading until the entire story played out. So, if you enjoy sapphic romances with humor set aside an evening to read. You won't want to put it down.
