DK Sutton's "Brother of the Bride" is a standalone in the Wedding Disaster's universe. It can be read alone, but I wouldn't recommend reading either the epilogue or the bonus chapter without reading books 1-3. And it's best to not ignore the content warnings.
The story is melancholic, filled with grief and anger. Aidyn Christy fell in love with Emily Bishop at first glance. They were supposed to have forever, but a fatal car accident only gave them ten years. Aidyn compartmentalizes his feelings for the most part, pushing all his energy into his diner and their daughter, Lanie.
Garrett Bishop accompanied his sister, Emily, on a post high school graduation trip to Ireland. There at Christy's Restaurant and Bar in Dublin, he met a gorgeous redhaired lumberjack of a man. Insta-chemistry. But when Emily entered the bar, Aidyn fell fast. Insta love. Repressing his attraction as best he could, Garrett stays away. His guilty desire turns to anguish as he blames his brother-in-law for Emily's death.
The two are a seething hot mess. DK Sutton has beautifully expressed their absolute grief. And it is tremendously moving. Tissues needed. But honestly, Emily's spirit is very much alive in this story. Which only adds to the book's overall tone, giving it softness and readability.
There's lots of push and pull in this book. Knowing what comes next did make it difficult reading some parts. Seeing Jane and Isaac's joy for marriage and their coming child had me in tears. Twirling Zye…

I need the full novel! I need more of Aidyn and Garrett. I need to see Aidyn to acknowledge Garrett in front of everyone. He deserves to be loved in the light not hidden away.
I understand how their relationship might be judged and frown upon, but Garrett loved Aidyn first yet sacrificed his own happiness for his sister’s. That’s real love in my book and he deserves to be happy.
Looking forward to reading more of them.

I loved it and I loved it some more!!!!!
Previous books in this series have shown Ayden and Garrett to be angsty towards each other. No with their own story unfolding, everything becomes more clear. Ayden has a certain amount of guilt and Garrett never expects his dream to come true. It's a case where even the dearly departed and much loved character we have only known on the page from previous books knows what is meant to be for the future but the main players are still stumbling in their grief and want. I loved it!! I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book.

Brother of the Bride is prequel to the Wedding Disasters series. This is the story of Aydin and Garrett. This was a short quick read. Aydin is a widower and Garrett is his brother in law. These two don't really like each other until Aydin kisses Garrett just to shut him up and things go from there. I enjoyed this story because it gave us some background on the people in the series. I enjoyed this book and would definitely recommend it and the series.
