Description

Eve Brown is a certified chaos magnet. After a disastrous attempt at professional culinary success ends with her crashing a wedding and subsequently losing her job, Eve finds herself at a crossroads. Seeking a fresh start, she ventures to a remote bed and breakfast in the English countryside, only to accidentally run the proprietor over. Literally. Jacob Wayne is the polar opposite of Eve: uptight, perpetually grumpy, and obsessively meticulous. He is not interested in hiring an accident-prone bohemian at his establishment, but his broken arm—courtesy of Eve—leaves him with little choice. What begins as a test of wills quickly devolves into a hilarious, high-stakes battle of personalities. As the two clash over everything from linens to life philosophies, the friction between them sparks an undeniable, searing heat. Talia Hibbert concludes the Brown Sisters trilogy with a masterclass in the enemies-to-lovers trope. This story is as much about profound personal healing and neurodivergent self-discovery as it is about a sparkling romance. With a cast of vibrant, supportive characters and a narrative that balances laugh-out-loud moments with raw, tender vulnerability, the journey of these two wounded souls finding home in each other is both heart-warming and deeply unforgettable.

Brilliantly Stunning, Lovely Romance!!! All the STARS!!!

Wow! Wow! Wow! I know I’m late to the party with this book, but better late than never because this book was brilliantly fantastic!!! Talia has the ability to write sensual, sexy, funny, beautiful, hot, achingly tender emotions all in one book, and succeed at all of them! When I read the back cover, I didn’t actually believe Eve hits Jacob with her car, but alas she does! And, boy is he grumpy, although to be fair, he’s just grumpy in general. Eve is this kind of flighty, doesn’t know what she wants to do with herself woman whose family is fed up with her flighty-ness. BUT, but that is merely on the surface for both of these gorgeous characters, and what is underneath, for both of them, is the belief that they simply aren’t good enough. Good enough for meaningful friendships, good enough for their parents to want them as is, good enough for romantic love... Talia manages to convey these wounds in big ways and the most subtle, yet stinging moments. I go back and forth with who I love more, Eve or Jacob, I mean the wounds he has from his past, UGH!!!! What unfolds as these two work together and get to know each other is like a brilliant star-filled sky romance, a huge bursting of love for each other romance. AND, more importantly for themselves!!! To see each of them slowly come to love themselves for who they are is magical, and I wish we could all see ourselves this way, that we are fabulous just the way we are. Brilliant, stunning, quirky, lovely, sensual, perfectly…

Good conclusion to the series

– 3.75 stars The Brown Sisters series has been such a bright light in an overall bad (reading) year and I'm so happy that I've discovered it. While Take a Hint, Dani Brown is still my favorite, Act Your Age, Eve Brown is a very cute conclusion to this series. If you loved the other books in this series, this book won't disappoint you. ✩‧₊*:・ THE CHRACTERS & ROMANCE ・:*₊‧✩ Can we talk about the fact that Eve HIT Jacob with a CAR and he didn't file a lawsuit against her???? i- if that is not love what is? I want what Jacob and Eve have ✨ Eve reminded me in a lot of things of one my favorite heroines, Gianna from The Maddest Obsession. The way she's a hot mess, sitting alone on a bench feeding ducks, calling the love of their life anal-retentive, getting words wrong and people needing to correct her, a bright sunshine???… the similarities, yup I love both of them. 😭 After so many failed attempts of finding what she's good at, it was great to see Eve's self discovery and finding something she truly loves. I loooove how Jacob always had her back and believed in her when she didn't dare to believe in her own abilities. Jacob is the complete opposite of Eve. Always in control of everything, cold, distant and NOT a people pleaser. He disliked Eve from the moment he stared at her, because he knew that woman had the ability to make his life a mess and boy did she do a good job. It was so sweet to see Jacob slowly opening up to Eve since he has not many people he can call his…

A delightful surprise!

Book 10 of 2022 — Act Your Age, Eve Brown by Talia Hibbert Through a happy circumstance, I found myself with ten extra library holds available. What to fill them with, you say? I went to the main library page on overdrive and started reserving titles that were “recommended by your librarians”. I am 100% the person who doesn’t look at menus in a new restaurant. I ask the server what their favorite thing is and promptly order that. The principle applies. Act Your Age, Eve Brown was available to check out, so I started it immediately. Upon finishing, I realized this book is third in a series. I did not know that when I started and the book easily stands alone! ***Warning: Some VERY sexy scenes. Like 5🔥/5 sexy. And I have watched Game of Thrones and read Laurel K. Hamilton, which borders on erotica. So, with that warning (if you’re not scared away), please continue to my review! Pros: Eve may be one of the most lovable characters in modern literature. She is funny, witty, uninhibited — but without being selfish or spoiled. Throughout the book, we watch her come to terms with the idea that SHE is enough and those that have made her feel less than had a problem that had nothing to do with her. What a beautiful journey. Jacob is a multi-layered character. While he begins the story in the position of the villain, he quickly puts any villainous-ness aside and you start rooting for him. He is autistic and spends a great deal of the book not only attempting to overcome this, but…

Eve & Jacob have my WHOLE HEART!!!!

I knew going into this book that I would absolutely love & adore it. However, I did NOT know that I would fall HEAD OVER HEELS for a fictional man with a WOLFISH GRIN AGGHHH One of my fave reads from last year was Take a Hint, Dani Brown so needless to say, the bar was set HIGH for Eve. And WOWIE, did Eve deliver and THEN some! I wasn’t expecting to find so much of myself in Eve which made this final book in the series that much more emotional & special for me. Her struggles with identity and purpose, her self-doubt, and how she learned to love every part of herself, no mater what others might say or think. Eve also loves a good romance book & graphic tee which HI, SAME!! There isn’t much else that I can say that hasn’t already been said. So I’m gonna share some signature Random Ass Thoughts for ya life instead: I’m obsessed with the music sprinkled throughout this story! Eve has serious TASTE & I’m so glad someone has already created a @spotify playlist for me to bump. The setting was eve-ry-thing!!! Adorable B&B set in small town, English countryside?! 12/10 need to GO. Ducks and geese are straight up the worst and can be seriously terrifying, I’m glad I am not alone in this!!! Immaculate supporting cast. Y’all. The Montrose siblings caught me by surprise in the bestttt possible way!! The banter & humor, unparalleled!!! The representation, amazinggg, seamless, and respectful!! Jacob. THIS. MAN. I SWEARRRR!!! Harsh, chiseled features: ok, I’m on board. Dirty,…

Pretty good but the autism representation didn't quite work for me

For the most part, I enjoyed this book. It had lots of funny moments, and the characters were vivid and did seem genuinely into each other, which is the main thing I want in a romance. However, the portrayal of autism didn't quite work for me. I am autistic, and usually when I read books with autistic characters, or read personal essays by other autistic people, I find that I have a lot in common with them and usually identify very strongly -- even with people who have a very different experience of autism than me, there are usually still a lot of commonalities and a feeling that their way of thinking is familiar. I did not get that with either of the characters here. Of course, autism is very varied and perhaps other autistic people would see themselves in these characters -- and the portrayal certainly wasn't offensive in any way -- but my guess would be that the author is not autistic and didn't get it quite right. For example, the characters discuss stimming, and one character's main reason for identifying as autistic is being extra perceptive, but the characters do not seem to stim at the most emotionally intense moments, and despite the character saying they identify with intense sensory experiences, I did not think that was actually portrayed in their point of view - they don't describe the details of their environment much, and don't seem to experience either sensory overload or sensory seeking behavior, even in environments where I would expect that. The autistic…
