Description

In the rain-slicked, shadow-drenched streets of Edinburgh, magic doesn’t just hide in the corners—it bites. Aisla Laxmi is a chaos-prone wytch with a penchant for trouble, while Jinn is a grieving, lethal vampyre consumed by the weight of a devastating loss. Their first meeting is less of a spark and more of a catastrophe, defined by animosity and a desperate, half-drawn blade. Yet, destiny or something more sinister forces their hands. Jinn requires a complex retraction spell to snatch a loved one back from the clutches of the grave, and Aisla is the only witch with the power—or the recklessness—to help. Trapped in a high-stakes countdown, the two rivals must navigate the dark history of the city and their own combustible chemistry. As the tension between them shifts from sharp-edged hatred to a searing, irresistible heat, the line between ally and lover begins to blur. With only four nights to master an impossible ritual, Aisla and Jinn must decide if the price of resurrection is worth the risk of losing their hearts. In this gothic tale of forbidden longing, every spell cast brings them closer to salvation—or total destruction.

A nice read….

I liked the storytelling of Jinn. The clothes. The darkness. The care and love she had for her daughter. I like when her world crashed right into Aísla. It was violent and life threatening. There was passion in that meeting unbeknownst to them both. Aisla life is boring IMO. Her surroundings are boring in the Covenstead. Her family is boring and weird. And Jinn is committed to the welfare of her daughter for over 40 years. This feat has consumed her and even more so when her daughter makes a permanent decision which Jinn cannot accept. Her own “mother” Indira and her have been at odds since the inception of Belle. I like the hunt before and after the taste of the wytche’s blood. It was the most exciting part. All in all, it wasn’t the read I was truly hoping for. It took me longer to read their story. I didn’t really care for the snarkiness of Aisla. She seemed young. And her ex-girlfriend made them seem so juvenile. It was meant to make Jinn jealous and send their impending relationship into overdrive. It helped force the envelope and get them into their strange attraction. I wanted them to have an HEA, I just didn’t care in the end. You know it’s bad when I would have loved to learn and know more about Indira. Her character made my skin crawl but in a good way. I’d love to be under her control.

loved it!

Such a great story of a mother’s love and finding that one person who can heal a broken heart. This story is a great take on a vamps life and death choices. It has a spicy romance and many family dynamics to work through.

Witty

I enjoyed all the witty comebacks and the smut was always a bonus! I enjoyed the moral battle of the suicide conversation, which is really hard for anyone! The goodbye is always the hardest part, and the unknown is harder! It felt really good and spoke truth to me personally. Great job!
