Description

The long-awaited conclusion to the Get Out series brings Micah Johnson back to the familiar streets of Melbourne, setting the stage for an emotional final chapter that tests the boundaries of an enduring connection. For Will Deanes, Micah’s return is both a blessing and a complication. What began as a volatile rivalry years ago has transformed into a deep, unshakable friendship, yet Will has spent far too long nursing a hidden, unspoken affection that Micah seems completely blind to. As Will navigates the difficult reality of life after a career-ending football injury, he is forced to witness Micah’s star continue to rise on the playing field. Their lives are no longer moving in perfect synchronization, and the return to proximity only intensifies the friction between them. Caught in a whirlwind of family crises and shifting personal identities, the two men must confront the ghosts of their shared past to determine what their future truly looks like. Through heartwarming highs and gut-wrenching lows, Where There’s A Will Deanes explores the transformative power of vulnerability. Can they bridge the gap between best friends and something more, or will the weight of their history prove too heavy to overcome? It is a poignant, tender look at love, timing, and the courage it takes to finally reveal your true heart.

A series well worth your time

There are four books in the tiger series and four books in the get out series. I've never read a series of books that just got better and better with each new book. I really didn't want this series to end-- wishing for more and more from all these characters. This series of books has the right balance of what real life is all about.

Another good book in this Melbourne series

I really admire how the setting in Melbourne and around the AFL and sporting community is so well realised. I've known these characters for a while now and I feel a glow of pride to see them all thriving - so this series has really done its job well.

I love all the Tigers/Devils/Get Out characters. Not this book though.

I am always thrilled with a SK novel. I've read the Tigers series many times. I thought the Get Out series was a great spinoff for the characters. This particular one felt like a long epilogue for the combined series. Less happened by the end of the book than in each of the others, but I felt I had a closing story for each of them. Which is nice, but not what I would have said is the focal point of a book for Will. He seemed as much the observer as the central character.

Micah and Will

Micah and Will are part of the first group of kids in Declan’s get out charity foundation for queer kids, “Get Out”. This is book 4 of the get out series. I just did not get as much enjoyment out of the series. I love Will, but I’m sorry. Like he was a little bit of a boring character. And I never did feel like Micah got any reformation. Ironically, because of the name of one of the previous books. This book just didn’t feel like it went anywhere, there was no romance or tenderness, and Micah and Will don’t get together until literally the book is 95% over. And I was deeply disappointed that we didn’t get more satisfying vignettes of Declan And Simon. I mean, did I miss it? We don’t ever even get the names of the twins. And I have to say in hindsight that the timeline From beginning to end seemed very inconsistent at times jumping all over the place.
