Description

Matty Crew is a woman defined by her boundaries. As a maintenance worker at an addiction recovery center, she relies on a rigid routine and careful sobriety to keep her fragile world intact. For Matty, life is about survival, not spontaneity, and she has long ago decided that love is a risk she simply cannot afford to take. Reese Lloyd’s life is defined by the shadows of a complicated past. Returning to the site of her mother’s legacy after years of estrangement, she takes a position as an addiction counselor, hoping to finally find closure. But control—the very tool she used to survive her mother’s narcissism—is slipping through her fingers, leaving her feeling exposed in a place she never wanted to be. When the paths of these two guarded women cross at Turtle Grove, their professional collision sparks an undeniable, unsettling attraction. As they work side-by-side, the walls they’ve built begin to crumble, replaced by a profound emotional bond neither expected. Bound by their shared history of trauma but hesitant to trust in a future, Matty and Reese must decide if they are brave enough to abandon their defenses and reach for the one thing they believe they don’t deserve: each other.

Another beautiful romance from Katie Trapp!

At its heart, When Love Finds a Way is a story about two women coming to terms with their turbulent pasts and finding their way forward together. Matty is a recovering addict dealing with a family who doesn't support her sobriety. Reese grew up with an emotionally abusive, narcissistic mom, which caused her to leave home after high school. Katie does an amazing job at dealing with difficult subjects in a compassionate, non-judgemental, matter of fact way. Even though Reese and Matty get off to a rocky start, their friendship starts to bloom once Reese lets down her guard and asks Matty for help with plumbing issues in the house she inherited from her estranged, hoarder mother. This leads to the two of them swapping Matty's help as a handywoman in return for Reese’s help coaching Matty as she prepares to take her G.E.D. As the two of them get closer, it becomes harder to fight their growing attraction. When they do finally get together, their chemistry is electric! I always love the spicy scenes in Katie's novels, they are sexy, sensual, and tender. In When Love Finds a Way, Katie takes us back to the setting of Where Trust Leads Us. Although it isn't strictly necessary to read the first book to enjoy this one, I loved seeing Bette, Kerrie and Kenny again! Kenny is up to his usual shenanigans of knowing about everything that is going on. So cute! What I love about Katie's writing is that her characters seem like real people, with real problems and real emotions. They seem…

Another great book by Katie Trapp

Another interesting book by Katie Trapp! I really liked the first book of this series (Where Trust Leads Us: A Sapphic Romance), and the last book of the author (A Shot of Her: A Sapphic Romance), so I was glad to be able to read another story by Trapp. In this book we come back to Turtle Grove Rehabilitation Center to follow Matty and Reese, two women with experience with addiction & recovery. For me it was very interesting to read more about the subject, as I didn't know much about it and had already learned a lot when reading Where Trust Leads Us. The couple is very cute, and it's heartwarming to see them being vulnerable to each other and getting closer because of that. Both had some very lonely lives, and it's nice to see how having support makes them stronger and allow them to face their challenges -- together. One thing that I always like on Trapp's books is the way she presents characters with different shapes and bodies, and how ALL of them are desirable and loved. It's so refreshing to see that, and this book is no exception! The book also shows what happens to Bette, Kerrie, Kenny, and Zoe after the end of the first book -- and it's so lovely!! You don't have to read the first book of the series in order to read this one, though, but I would suggest you to do it, so you can enjoy even more this story. I also encourage you to check the content warnings on the author's website, as there might be some sensitive topics for some people. They were all fine for me,…

my favorite book by Katie Trapp so far

When Love Finds a Way by Katie Trapp is a contemporary workplace romance set in a small town in Tennessee, specifically at an inpatient addiction facility. Matty, a recovering addict, works on the maintenance team for the Turtle Grove Rehabilitation Center. Reese, a newly hired counselor, has returned to her hometown to manage the home of her deceased mother, who struggled with addiction and hoarding. The two experience an immediate attraction, and a relationship grows organically over time as they both overcome their respective trauma and let their guards down. They are both well-developed and lovely characters, exhibiting strength and vulnerability. The supporting found family is also interesting and , but not overly intrusive. I do not consider this a slow-burn romance. I think the timeframe is perfectly reasonable, and the relationship feels natural and believable. Matty and Reese get to know one another both at work and outside the workplace as they grow closer. I enjoyed their tension and intimate moments. They were sweet, steamy, attentive, and caring. Kudos for communication, consent, competency, and body positivity. This novel tackles some heavy topics but remains relatively low in angst. I have a crush on Matty, and When Love Finds a Way is my favorite book by Katie Trapp so far. I give it five stars for writing style, character development, and world-building. It is a solid romance that balances backstories, work responsibilities, satisfying relationship…

Love is hard

I was lucky enough to get an ARC for this book! Matty and Reese are 2 people that have nothing in common but first impressions are never the truest impression. Matty is living her life day by day and doing everything in her power not to step back into the world of addiction-and her family is not a support for her but a temptation. Reese comes home after putting her abusive mother in her rear view mirror years before. She is now starting over in the house she hated after her mother died. Fate puts Matty and Reese in each other’s path when Reese gets hired as an addiction counselor where Matty works. This story is beautifully written but there is very honest discussions about addiction and surviving abuse. Katie’s writing makes you feel the anguish and pain of both characters but it’s when she is writing about the love where this book shines. She doesn’t just write about the pretty parts of love but she shows that love is hard and it takes work and honesty for it to flourish. In short-real life relationship problems! This is the second book of a series and you don’t need to have read the first one but I would highly recommend it-not because you need to but will want to after reading Matty and Reese’s story!
