Description

The rugged landscape of the 19th-century frontier is no place for the fragile, yet for two women bound by tragedy, it becomes the only setting for a life worth living. Following a devastating loss that leaves her world in ashes, Elena arrives in the isolated town of Sapphire, seeking little more than a quiet place to mourn. Instead, she finds herself drawn to the fierce, guarded spirit of a woman who knows the weight of grief just as intimately as she does. Against the backdrop of a raw and unforgiving Western wilderness, their connection ignites, transforming from a tentative friendship into a profound, life-altering love. This story is a hauntingly beautiful exploration of the human heart, capturing the delicate balance between the agony of bereavement and the sudden, searing heat of new beginnings. With prose that feels both sharp and tender, the narrative pulls you into a world where damaged souls find sanctuary in one another. It is a story that will wreck you and mend you in equal measure, proving that even after the greatest losses, embers can still catch flame. Experience a love story that is as haunting as it is unforgettable.

This book shattered me 🖤

This book absolutely wrecked me in the best possible way. The writing was so vivid I genuinely felt trapped inside this story with these women. Every moment of pain, fear, love, and hope hit me so hard. I wasn’t just reading this book. I was feeling every second of it. Sawyer completely owned my heart. The way she loves is so intense, protective, and all-consuming once she lets Charlotte in. And Charlotte…she shattered me. Watching her survive everything she endures and still fight for herself destroyed me over and over again. This is not an easy read at all. The author does not hold back, and some parts genuinely hurt to read. They are supposed to hurt. The healing, resilience, and love that grows through all that pain made this story UNFORGETTABLE. One of my favorite reads this year if not EVER.

Great Debut!!

What a wonderful debut from L. Creeke! Beautiful characters, good plot and look into that time. A lot of loose ends to tie up. Can’t wait till the second comes out!
