New Clem and Wist volume, same old awesomeness!
It was just yet another spamming email from Amazon, or so I thought. Looked at it anyhow, was a new Clem and Wist book, omg! Bought it immediately even though I have Kindle Unlimited. Didn't even read the summary first.
Usually I read new books from Hiyodori immediately, but took me a couple days with this. Loved it as usual though. The main thing I want from a Clem and Wist book is to experience their relationship. At times I have wondered what it really is, esp based on the things that Clem says. Do they love each other or not? They never really say that to each other, but to me their love, affection, and loyalty to each other are the theme of each book. I love how they obviously need each, and that each is part of the other. To spin off the prequel title, no one else can heal each of them. To me, this book brings that front-and-center. Also, I liked that in this book Clem and Wist are working together and not at odds, unlike in the last book, Queen of the Void. I am glad this book returned to them being a team.
As usual with a Clem and Wist book, adventures happen, both women suffer, and life gets even more complicated for them, with ominous portents for their future. Some things always get kicked down the road. This book has the usual heartache, heartbreak, and heartwarming arc. Just so love them both.
This book is different from the previous three (or four if you count the prequel) in that it contains a murder mystery. We saw a bit of that in the previous books,…
