Description

Life was simple when it was just me and my human. We had routines, we had tuna, and we had a quiet, comfortable existence. Then, tragedy struck, and my world crumbled. Now, I’m stuck living with a pair of chaotic, loud-mouthed squatters who have overtaken my territory and turned my sanctuary into a battlefield of inconveniences. My name is Fishsticks, and I’m a cat with refined tastes, a very low tolerance for nonsense, and a broken heart. Between enduring the incessant antics of my new human roommates and navigating the sharp, stinging sting of grief, I never expected to find beauty in the mess. But life has a strange way of proving you wrong when you’re least prepared for it. The Tuna Fish Diaries is my unfiltered, often cynical, and deeply heartfelt account of loss, stubborn survival, and the unexpected warmth of falling in love again—even when you’re convinced you’re finished with it all. This is a story about finding your person—or, in my case, your people—when you’re just trying to survive the day. Dive into my diary if you dare; just be prepared for the shedding, the drama, and the occasional heart-wrenching purr.

Hilarious! Retelling of another book but through the cat’s eyes…

If you have ever wondered what a pet would think of his owner’s behavior, just read this book for HIS perspective and I mean the one and only Fishsticks who was James’ cat! This truly is a standalone but if you plan on reading the book that spawned this novelette, you should read it first. This was one hilarious exploit into a “cat’s brain.” Keep in mind that although this looks like a child’s book, it is not. Do not be fooled by the cover. Liam, Julian and Nora make this cat’s life miserable. He misses his human James. Carrying around James’ sock is kind of sad… If you like outrageously funny, gay romance with a touch of grumbly friendship, you will want to read this short book. Fishsticks will rule the day, as it should be. Wink. I volunteered to review an ARC of it.

A Fun Feline Read!

The Tuna Fish Diaries: A Cat’s Tale of Heartache and Misery by Fishsticks is a standalone novella told from the POV of a very rambunctious orange cat. This is a companion novella to The Right Wrong Number and the events of that story are told from Fishsticks viewpoint in this novella. After he loses his human, Fishsticks is left with the abhorrent human Jules and is determined to live his best cat life despite his human’s attempts to sabotage his cat life This was such a fun read!! Pets are often in books, but it’s rare that we get to see their point of view throughout a story. As a cat owner, I loved all the puns and typical cat behavior that occur throughout the story! In between chapters of the antics of Fishsticks, this book does have the POV of the humans to help the reader understand what’s going on in the story Overall this was a solid 4 star read! The POV of a cat was so enjoyable and engaging, and this was a great follow up to The Right Wrong Number. While this is a lighthearted read overall, it does touch on some heavier topics like loss and how that can impact a pet, so definitely check triggers if you need to. As this is a novella mainly from a cat’s POV, this isn’t really a romance and no rating will be given for spice If you are a cat person who enjoys witty cat puns, fun shenanigans and a cat who just wants all the treats, then absolutely pick this one up! While this can technically be read as a standalone, you’ll get the most benefit if you read The Right…

Fishstick’s Diary

I think this is one of the cutest cat books I have read. It sort of reminds me of the Eric & Amanda Fish’s book series about NEURO /Feather Dan. I always love reading books that feature an animal’s POV. Again, it’s very cute!

Orange cat owners unite!

This book was exactly what it was intended to be! A hysterically funny book from a cats perspective of love after loss! If you are a cat lover I 10/10 would recommend reading this! I am glad I didn't read The Right Wrong Number first because for me I generally do not like reading the same book from multiple points of view. But because I didn't I was unprepared for the spouse having died...I know..I could have figured that if I payed closer attention to details! This book showcases the cat's suffering of having lost his favorite human and dealing with his exasperating "spare human". He is exactly what a cat would be in this instance, especially with his "orange cat energy". Never fear though! This MM adjacent romance brings not only love to the spare human but we have love at first sniff as Fishsticks takes immediately to this new man! The catio, the murder muffins and all the other purr-fectly silly cat antics make this book something all cat lovers need to read! Especially if you own an orange cat like me!
