An emotional love story ❤️
Rhea Ellis, a debut novel author wrote The Salt On Our Skin and she wrote it exquisitely. I wasn’t so sure what to expect from this book initially, but truth be told, I was quite surprised when I read the setting of the story which was set in Greece for the most part, with what I imagined a very Mediterranean vibe, something totally different from all other books I’ve read and a refreshing take, especially since it also hit home.
The book was not your typical sappy love story between Willow and Enya, but it offered a real and raw look at intimacy and desire explored between two individuals who found each other after meeting in Greece for the first time and then having to return back to their normal lives after a few weeks. This book also navigated, quite brilliantly and realistically might I add, the hardships that come with a long distance relationship, longing, insecurities, heartache, grief and solitude ❤️🩹
Although Ellis wrote intimacy between the two, this book was not big on spice, yet Ellis did an incredible job at capturing raw emotions and feelings, not just from the FMCs but also elicited them from me as the reader, as I could not help but feel all the feels as I read along, each word carefully and deliberately chosen on purpose to immerse you in the story and make you feel precisely what the FMC was feeling.
I was genuinely interested to see how the story was going to unfold and it did get my heart in a knot at some point throughout the book - THAT is how…
