I absolutely love this book its so good
Review of Risk Taker Book 3 in the Colton U Playbook Series by Stephanie Alves. I love love love this book it is a 5 star read for me. I have been dying to read this book and it not disappoint I loved everything about it, it made me smile the whole time. This is Nathan and Logan's story and they are so cute I love their banter and the push and pull between them. I love Logan and how flirty he is and how he's always pushing Nathan’s buttons. I love that Logan gets Nathan to relax and explore his sexuality while Nathan gets Logan to focus and take hockey more seriously. This is a MM, teammates, opposites attract, broody mmc x golden retriever mmc, spicy, slow burn, coach’s son, college hockey romance. Nathan and Logan both go to Colton U and are both on the hockey team. Nathan is a junior and the goalie on the team, his dad is the coach. Logan is a sophomore and he’s Nathan’s teammate. They are complete opposites. Nathan is broody and serious he’s under a lot of pressure and carries a lot on his shoulders. He is always on the ice and constantly practicing to be great because his dad’s the coach but he doesn’t even know if he wants to play hockey professionally. Logan is a charismatic, flirty playboy, the life of the party and doesn’t take anything seriously. He is great hockey player but constantly shows up late for practice. Logan loves teasing Nathan and pushing his buttons. Nathan is drawn to Logan but has never attracted to another guy and isn’t sure how he’s feeling.…
Cute romance book with a good ending
This is a good book - has some of my favorite tropes and yearning/jealousy, AND a HEA. However there are quite a few perspective errors and sentence structure issues where the pov is off or the sentences are redundant. For example, it says the guy “stretched his arm behind me on the couch” like 3 times in one paragraph (even though I’m pretty sure he only extended it once and kept it there as the context implied) or certain words kept getting repeated within a singular sentence when a pronoun or synonym could have been substituted. At times these confusing errors made it harder to imagine the story, so I think some light editing might be needed, but overall this book is sooo good and made me smile and i think more romance books need the kind of healthy communication the people in this book have. They are so honest with one another it makes my romantic-heart swell with joy.

Nathan and Logan have my heart!
📚 The Risk Taker by Stephanie Alves
Book 3 in Colton U Playbook series
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️.5
🌶️🌶️🌶️
I’ve been (im)patiently waiting for this book since the first one in the series. And every time I come back to the Colton U universe, I fall a little more in love with the characters.
I’ve been so intrigued by the grumpy Nathan and wanted to know what lies beneath the surface. And Logan along with Austin has been the life of the party since the very beginning.
Nathan, being the coaches son, is under a lot of extra pressure to do good on the ice. This makes for one broody and controlled goalie. Being tasked with keeping Logan in check was not something he wanted and it pushes his level of control in ways he didn’t imagine.
Logan is very sure of himself and always poking fun at and flirting with everyone. He gets a kick out of messing with Nathan and watch his control slip just a fraction. Some how though Nathan manages to get under the skin of Logan also and crack that outer shell.
The chemistry and banter between these two is so so good! You just wait for that inevitable f… it moment! Which did not disappoint.
There are so many elements in these books that I enjoyed. One of them being how patient and caring Logan is with Nathan in his journey to figure out who he is and what he likes!
I also loved the sweet quiet moments between the two of them, where they both were able to be to show their softer side.
So if you want to read a hockey MM romance with banter, chemistry,…
This was absolutely wonderful.
Nathan and Logan, my beloveds. They’re so precious to me, their relationship is actually everything. The tension!! The flirting!! The banter!! The spice?! Hell yeah.
I really loved their dynamic; the chemistry felt believable and made it so easy to root for them and their relationship. I adored how Nathan was able to let go of control and just be himself around Logan, it was so beautiful to see. And Logan finally finding someone who chooses him over and over and loves him loudly (eventually), oh how I love them!!
I do wish we could’ve delved a little more into their backstories—everything felt kind of surface level. Particularly Logan’s home life/parents; it gets mentioned kind of offhandedly and then doesn’t really get explained any more than that save for one or two scenes. I wish we could’ve expanded that, as I think it would’ve added a lot more character and story depth. We get a little bit more of Nathan’s personal/home life as his dad is the coach, but even that wasn’t talked about or seen very much. Though I did still enjoy the story and connect to the characters, I just think it would’ve been nice to get a little more exploration in those areas. The beginning of the book mentions abandonment issues but we literally see none of that? That’s honestly my only “issue” with this book, and in saying that, I still absolutely loved it and highly recommend! (Edit: I realize that this is a lighter, fluffier romance that maybe suits being more…
ARC review- Oh my freaking god. I have so much to say about this book.
I ABSOLUTELY LOVED!! The crumbs were got for Aurora and Coles book OMG IM SO EXCITED, especially when he just picked her up at carried her away at the end. The little hint about Aiden from Spin The Bottle- I loved. Poor coach Hayes is never catching a break😂 the man is still traumatized from the hot tube between Izzy and Ryan and now, Austin is making the trauma worse with his comments, he’s even more traumatized when finding his son lying naked in bed with Logan. I absolutely loved Logan and Nathen’s story so much! Logan definitely fell harder and I love that he was able to turn soft and open up especially to Nathen. I loved seeing Nathen’s growth in general but also his internal struggles too. He admitted Hockey wasn’t something he wants to do anymore. He went after what he really wanted. Seeing both these two men being so vulnerable about their feeling and when they need/want really got to my heart. Logan’s back story is so sad but I’m glad he had such good support now. And on top of such an emotional story THE SPICE, OMG. These two are one hot couple for sure and to mention THEY SWITCHED. It’s not just a spice thing but also for Logan to show Nathen he trust him. Their love is just *chefs kiss* I love the team’s reactions to Logan and Nathen’s relationship. Also I loved Izzy and Nathen’s parents so much. They are so in love and are amazing parents. I loved this book and I’m so excited for book 4!!
