Description

For Khloe Thompson, a spot on a national dance tour is more than just a career milestone—it is a desperate escape. With her personal life imploding back home, she is determined to trade her quiet, crumbling reality for the high-octane energy of the stage, using movement to outrun the chaos waiting for her in the shadows. Enter Nayara Alvarez, a seasoned professional on her sixth and final tour. Nayara has spent her career treating her body like a temple and her heart like a fortress, strictly enforcing a no-dating-dancers policy to keep her life uncomplicated. But as the grueling schedule leads to mounting burnout, the walls she’s carefully built begin to crack. Thrown together in the pulsing intensity of rehearsals and city-hopping rehearsals, Khloe and Nayara ignite a spark that neither can deny. What starts as a forbidden collision of opposites—grumpy professional meets wide-eyed newcomer—quickly turns into a tender connection that challenges their guarded hearts. Yet, as their chemistry grows, they realize they cannot dance away from their pasts forever. With secrets lurking behind every curtain, the two must decide if their love is worth the risk of being exposed when the music finally stops.

Good pacing & realistic story line

I absolutely loved this book. A lot of the sapphic books I’ve tried to read move entirely too fast and can be cringy. This was such a refreshing contrast. The ending was also a jaw dropper. Cant wait to read the second one.

Worth the read

I came across this book by accident and I'm glad I took the chance to read it. It was refreshing seeing well written story about people of color. I really like how the author draws you into the life of a dancer but didn't bough the story down with too many details. The characters were well written and relatable. I enjoyed the dialogue and felt the story took twist and turns that kept me engaged. I look forward to the next book in the series.

Girls dancing and falling in love, great read!

I could not put it down! I love the premise of the story of two dancers falling in love on tour. I thought the sapphic romance and spice was really good an realistic. There was some mystery. There was laughter and tears. I loved seeing in my mind’s eye (at least) people of color and black queer people just being who aren’t represented as much as I would like in books. The book ending on a cliffhanger that had my jaw open! I immediately bought the second book and I can say it’s even better. It was so good and you can tell the authors has gotten more confident in her writing style in the pace was really good. The world of Naya and Khloe is so good I hope there will be another book one day. Also the author is so kind and interacts with her fans!

It felt like a early 2000's dance movie, but sapphic

This was a wonderful debut in a different and dynamic setting that fully demonstrates that the author has intimate knowledge about the dance industry. Khloe and Nayara are coworkers who are literally dancing around each other. Khloe is immediately drawn towards Naya while Naya is doing everything in her power to stay away. The romance is nice and slow, they take their time pushing a pulling, it's messy-ish, yet soft and cozy at the same time. The main characters had great chemistry IMO, and the other dancers/friends were also great. Their interactions were fun, at times direct, at other times it was like they were sending each other smoke signals that the other one couldn't understand. Naya's intrusive thoughts were hilarious, and I just wanted to give her a hug when all the unprocessed anxiety she had came to a head. If you enjoy reading books that don't have a linear romance story, a workplace romance where both MC's are dancers, and the themes of anxiety, loss, grief, and love are explored. Pick this one up. My only caution is, it does end in a cliffhanger and you need to read book 2 for the HEA.
