The definition of witty repartee.
This is hands down the funniest, sharpest, sweetest book I’ve read. The banter between Archie and Leo made me laugh out loud so many times the dog finally went somewhere else so he could sleep undisturbed. I am usually a fast reader but found myself savoring every bit a dialogue and descriptions to make I didn’t miss anything.
Loved loved loved!

Jax Calder's "Revenge Club" series continues with this installment focusing on Leo Brennan, whom we met in the first entry in the series when he tried to be the voice of common sense with his friend Andrew's revenge initiative. Ironically but fortunately for readers, Leo is not nearly as good at following his own advice when his own impulsive attempt at retribution goes comically awry.
Leo unwittingly changes his own life one evening in a London restaurant when he sees someone he believes to be Vaughn Mansley, a one-time friend who wronged Leo in the past. Leo decides to "accidentally" spray him with maple syrup, only to have this plan go wrong in two ways: (1) his victim breaks his ankle in the ensuing chaos and (2) his victim turns out to be Vaughn's younger brother Archie. Motivated by guilt, Leo tries to make amends to Archie and soon finds himself in a series of ridiculous, humiliating situations mischievously engineered by Archie, who realizes that Vaughn was Leo's target though he doesn't know why. Attraction and then love develop despite the obstacles posed by both men's secrets.
Calder knows how to serve up the charm and the heart in these stories, and "The Revenge Mishap" doesn't disappoint. Leo and Archie make an appealing couple and Calder mines a lot of humor from their mind games (though, honestly, a few of the things Archie does really do cross certain lines; if I were Leo, I'd have walked and not looked back, but that's probably why I'm not…
Enjoyed this mm revenge gone wrong story with really interesting characters and a unique plot containing a ton of laugh out loud moments.
Absolutely LOVED this book!!!
This story was delightfully entertaining and heartwarming from cover to cover. Jax is quickly becoming a favorite! Great job Jax!
A remarkable silver lining
This is a highly entertaining yet thought-provoking tale of mistaken revenge heaped on the wrong person, with two men evenly matched (once Leo gets fully in the game), challenging and one-upping each other in a growing string of increasingly ridiculous challenges in a mental chess match amid a growing physical and emotional attraction. There were so many places I laughed out loud while reading, finding unique turns of phrase which stuck in my brain, like “constructing origin stories for profanity”, “cross-species choreography requirements”, and “dignity ship had well and truly sailed”, all of which brought back intriguing and laughable mind pictures as various scenes replayed in my head. I loved the description of the syrup baptism incident, the unexpected birthday-related event in the ER waiting room, and the various costumes and antics Archie came up with to torment Leo with in his guilt. The physical chemistry between them was off the charts, but to me, the intellectual and emotional connection was more interesting as each had to stay alert and not lose focus, be aware and present at all times or lose their position in the mental challenges each gave the other. It was so entertaining to see these two men feed off each other once they really got going, challenging with a constant push-pull, making each other laugh and discovering things about each other that were hidden (intentional or not), as Leo was able to keep up with Archie like no one else in his life ever had.
Leo…
