I bow down to Ms. Tiffany Reisz. She had done it again with the final installment of the Red Years portion of The Original Sinners series. I have been blown away by her previous books and with The Mistress I was definitely not disappointed. It had everything I have come to expect from her books: beautiful writing, charismatic characters, suspense, drama, humor, sexiness, passion, and love. Her books have always managed to keep me fully engaged, pulling all sorts of various reactions from me. I will make to attempt to put into words how much I love this book and series, but I doubt this review will do it justice.
When I think back on The Mistress, the foremost thought that comes to mind is how it just summarizes all that you have read from the beginning with The Siren, then The Angel, and then to The Prince. You got the final insight to who the characters are and what their connection to each other really meant. If you were still unsure about how everything fits in, then the interactions/dialogue between the characters reveals it all. It was as if they were putting it on record how everything is so you won’t have any doubts to the way everything occurred and ended up.
From the book’s synopsis I expected for Nora to do her best Scheherazade impression of storytelling, but what was a pleasant surprise was how all the other characters took part in also telling their story. I was just struck at how beautiful, and at times heartbreaking, to read the monologues or stories that…

“'... I know you’re hurting. Don’t be afraid to hurt me, too. I know you want to let go. Let go with me. You need comfort. Let me comfort you with my body. Lose yourself inside me. Forget what you’ve lost, forget what you can’t have. There’s no shame in trying to forget for a night even if you know you’ll remember in the morning.'”
In a way I think it may have been better to wait for each installment of this captivating saga, "The Original Sinners", because as I read each book back-to-back, I am overwhelmed by the presence of these characters. Thoughts of them intrude upon my mind throughout the day and night when I am away from reading about them. After I finished this story, I had to remind myself that this is a book and it is a testament to the author, how personally I take the actions of some of the characters.
There is so much value in understanding these characters, be they real or simply a part of the author's imagination. I find Nora, the dark heroine, both fearsome as a Dominatrix and tragic as the love and lover of the priest, Soren. I was head over heels with Soren...but after this book, honestly I feel betrayed. I seem ridiculous to myself for having these feelings but they're truthful and real feelings. Kingsley...I will always love!
Just because Soren did not act how I wished he would act does not mean this author is any less brilliant. It is my issue and I own it as such. That I feel so strongly is a testament to this writer's gifts. I cannot elaborate on…

Fantastically Kinky And Surprisingly Intimate
This series continues to blow me away! With Nora being held captive, a group of her friends and lovers, blended from her two worlds, band together and await further news. Old feelings and needs are reexamined, while new sparks fly. As usual, Ms. Reisz has created a story that pushes boundaries and keeps you wondering what will happen next.
What has really astonished me while reading this series is the level of intimacy between characters and the seeming sincerity of their feelings. I usually struggle with stories where a character claims to be in love with multiple people. My head has a hard time believing that a character can be head over heels for one person and equally in love with another. Rarely, have I run across a story where an author can create such a scenario convincingly. Even fewer can do so without eliciting feelings of betrayal and anger. However, Ms. Reisz has done exactly that.
Nora loves Soren. Yet, she also genuinely loves Wesley and Kingsley too. The same can be said for Kingsley and his love for Soren, Juliette and Nora. The characters play musical beds so frequently, that nearly every character has multiple love interests. At times, it leaves my head spinning. However, the feelings never seem insincere or unnatural, which is an incredible feat with the complicated love lives of these characters. This book, even more than earlier books in the series, has a great deal of bed-hopping between characters.
Much of this book was comprised of flashbacks and…

wow. oh wow I am speechless I mean speechless at how beautiful and amazing this book was. The writing was powerful and draws you into this web of intrigue and memories. the adage oh what a tangled web we weave does come into play here.
the writing: beautiful. The flow was perfect and the descriptions were intriguing. I like how this is written like a chess match with live people and emotions. The emotion can be felt through the words used. Oh and the cloth scene. Le sigh
the plot: the love triangle angle was a continuation from the previous books. the added bonus of the stories Nora tells is amazing. the vengeance and punishment concept is intriguing. Not a new plot but with how Ms. Reisz has written it you have a new outlook on what can happen when betrayal and heartbreak gets entangled with a disturbed, callous, self centered self absorbed individual being on the receiving end of that betrayal.
the characters: let's take them individually
Grace: she got on my last nerve at times. I mean coming on to Soren when he was in despair and about to make the toughest choice of his life. Except for Soren it wasn't. Here is Grace coming to America to see Nora and than she goes to the penthouse and demands to be in the know. demands I mean come on you don't know her as well as everyone else. Than her arrangement with Zach is odd but okay. What gets me though is how she was with Soren just didn't like. Overall she was okay but I didn't like her blatant ways with Soren.
Marie:…
Honestly, I was not happy with the story line, sudden appearance of an unknown foe and the need for vengeance after so many years didn't feel right. For nearly 50% of the story all that happening was the civil conversation between the characters or revisiting their past or professing their love. I was pretty much disappointment with it since this is not the usual way tiffany writes the story. It’s like she was trying very hard to give a closure to everyone and it was convenient to bring all the prime characters to sit and have a nice long chat and clear their misunderstanding or enlighten them with a story, I already predicted who is going to end up with whom and who will be left heartbroken. (I know I was li’l judgy but blame the author for setting the standards so high in very passing book!)
But…what I didn’t expect was to live every bit of the stories told by Søren, Nora and Kingsley. The story about their past encounters the reason they love unconditionally was something so spectacular I felt it in my very core. Reading the previous books left me confused about Nora and Søren’s relationship, I never got to see why is that they need each other or why they find their way back to each other and those answers I found it here.
Søren loved Nora for 20 years who in her very young age made him take his oath of celibacy back, who had a tendency to fall in trouble every chance she got. Took her under his wing, protected her, made her a strong independent woman and gave her his…
