Every time I read a book by August Jones, I find myself saying the same thing, how much I loved it, how breathtakingly beautiful it was, and every time, it’s the absolute truth. With each book, each word, each character, she pulls you in so completely, making you live and breathe inside the world she’s created. A world filled with angst, heartbreak, longing, and uncertainty, but, in the end, love. She doesn’t just tell a story; she rips you open, makes you feel everything her characters feel, and then, somehow, she stitches you back together again. This series was captivating from the very first book. And from that very first book, we catch fleeting glimpses of Silas and Graham. In the second, another glimpse. In the third, we begin to see just how dire their situation is. We think we know them, think we understand their story based on these brief moments, but then, we reach the final book. And suddenly, everything we thought we knew unravels. The phrase “there are three sides to every story” has never felt more true. Piece by piece, the puzzle comes together, and what it reveals is devastating. From the very first page, you are consumed by Silas and Graham’s impossible, breathtaking story. You feel it all—their beginning, their chemistry, the kind that ignites once in a lifetime. You feel their hope. Their fear. Their love, the love that brings both heartbreak and betrayal. I really enjoyed this series, more than I thought I would actually. I got invested in the characters, especially the MMCs of this book. My only beef with this book is Silas forgiving Graham way too quickly. I get it. You’re in love. But that man literally destroyed your life. Ain’t no dick good enough to forgive them for doing that after a week.

Reading these in order I knew what I was getting into with this story. I knew it was going to have some of my least favorite tropes. I knew that since I'm currently sick I'm therefore unlikely to be very forgiving. Aaaannnnddd I was reading it in the hopes it would redeem the previous story which made me mad. That's a lot of pressure to put on a bk before I even began. And even with all that - I was HOOKED. It was crazy spicy, angry, depraved, and intense. And oh man, this was all kinds of f****d up. I was *highly* skeptical they would get an HEA. They did though. I loved it. Also - Impressive sex worker representation.
