Outstanding 1st novel of thought provoking trilogy.
This is a fantastic book written by a rookie writer who writes more articulately than the many established LGBTQ writers we have had to choose from throughout the years. Having lived in south Minneapolis for over 25 years, it felt engaging to hear about many areas well known to most-warehouse district, blue/green line trains, the capital as well as downtown St. Paul side streets. The main characters have depth, vivid challenges and hard wrought insight. Frighteningly, the story line feels close to the potential reality of current politicians and their desire to exert control over marriage equality. This book is an outstanding initial novel of a thought-provoking trilogy. A+
Take a change on this indie author! I was blown away!
*Author notes this is intended for 18+* If you don't like real, gritty, raw, unfiltered, or explicit...this book isn't for you! However, if you aren't offended by those things, and revel in complex characters, heavier themes, are queer or an ally, and like smash the patriarchy energy...pull up and seat and open this book! This not too distant distopian novel has it all: rebellion/resistance from oppression, discovery of self acceptance, witty banter, fun and interesting characters that have amazing chemistry, romance, **spice**, found family, and did I mention the MC's are total badasses?! It had me laughing, crying, holding my breath, and sitting on edge to get to the next page! This book was a breath of much needed hop scented and rainbow colored fresh air, and I'm so totally in it now. 10/10 - *chefs kiss*
I happened upon this book thanks to the Tik Tok algorithm gods. I was not familiar with this author but the book sounded like something I would like to read. It sucked me in and kept me reading. I found at times it was hard to read because of this crazy time line we are living in and for me personally, how much I could relate to Oakland. It is well worth your time.
Waste of pages with unnecessary, explicit sex scenes. It WAS one of the best things about scifi, and fantasy books written by gay women.... They didn't need sex to sell them, because they were great enough minds to capture and hold the reader without it. I used to brag about them. This writer has that ability but lost some to the straight way of writing. Towing the line of romance. It used to be pure writing.
ugh who can’t see this happening in USA?
Way too close to what’s happening in the USA right now. So many people fought for the right to marriage in the United States, and the Supreme Court has the votes to overturn it. Our American experiment will end if people don’t fight back against the religious billionaire freaks who claim to be moral.
