A captivating story of Dean Mathews & Mikael Reed's attraction with an amazing secret that could tear them apart.
The Carpenter's Secret is an amazing story of a city man (Dean), bored with his insurance job taking on a life he always wanted as a farmer, and the carpenter (Mikael) that he hired to do all of the work around his grandfather's farm that he inherited 6 years earlier and only now decided he needed a change. Dean got a lot more change than he anticipated the first day Mikael drove up to find out what work was needed. The attraction between the two men and the connection they were developing while being together and working together keeps building up more and more until they have to admit their feelings for each other. Mikael is from the wrong side of town and has a deep secret that Dean's grandfather knew about but never shared with him. His grandfather left him a necklace that would save him when he needed it. The reality of the history of the ancient American stories passed down from generation to generation are about to be revealed in a most surprising and threatening way. Will their friendship be effected by the secret, will both sides of the town accept them, will MiKael's family eventually accept an outsider into their family????? All answers you will have to find out while reading this wonderful story and the sequels which I am anxiously waiting for. Noah Harris weaves the American Native tales and the ever building relationship between these 2 different men in such a way that I found this a very captivating read and was really transported into his world and can't wait…

Great start to a new series!!!
I liked The Carpenter's Secret by Noah Harris. It was well written, and I enjoyed Mikael and Dean. I always like Noah's books about a human and werewolf pairing and this one was great, but it moved a little slow for me. It was still plenty hot, and I liked the chemistry between Mikael and Dean. The book does end in a happy for now ending but this is just the first book in a new series called Family Secrets, and the author has promised that we won't have to wait long for the next book. I'm hoping that we get more of Mikael's background in the next book since we got a lot of Dean's in this one. I voluntarily reviewed an advanced reader copy of this book.
“For when you regret the road not taken.”
New York author Noah Harris (also known as John Harris) is a 28-year-old bisexual man currently single and living in a small apartment in New York City. Though somewhat shy he is a humanitarian who sees the world in which we live as a community bonded in a natural approach to our feelings and ourselves and our interaction with others. His bisexual nature allows him to create well rounded characters – most all of his novels are M/M romances but they are much more than the usual erotica we encounter in film, television, and social media. John explores the boundaries of types and wields a strong brush as he paints his fascinating people. This is Book 1 of a new series he calls FAMILY SECRETS.
In this short book John again explores the interstices of M/M relationships, offering more psychological insight into relationships in general than most other authors no matter their genre. His prose and character development grow with each book and he understands that valuable asset of introducing the reader in a comfortable manner to the personalities of his characters.
Noah offers a fine little prologue to draw us into the story – ‘Later, when he really thought about it, everything that had happened in his life could be blamed on a single bit of paperwork. A lot of changes in life could be attributed to one benign object or event in life, he knew that. Yet, the events that followed this single act could never have been foretold, not even by the hokiest of psychics. Being an insurance…

3 Stars All Around
This book was a Wolf shifter (Mikael) and Human (Dean) pairing set in a paranormal universe that ends in a HFN which will continue following the same characters storyline into the next books.
I thought the writing was okay. There was a lot of dialogue and background on Dean compared to the actual storyline happening around these guys. I am hoping that in book two we get some more intense plot since we learned so much about these characters in this first book. I need a lot more action and drama and a little less talking and details. However, the things that we learned about Dean's grandpa and the surrounding towns were pretty interesting and I wouldn't mind hearing just a little bit more about it in the next book. This book kind of felt like it was more of an introduction that could have been reduced by a few pages, since it was a slower build up to the full story I am assuming we will get in the next book.
Audio - I think the narrator Nic Lazar did ok. Not great, but just ok. There were a few words that stood out to me during the story as mispronounced and a few times he ran on a little more monotone without enough emotion when times called for that. But overall for a newer narrator starting out he really didn't do bad. I would still be interested to see how he improves as a narrator as time goes on.
Once again Noah Harris has written a book that captures you and makes you want to know more.
Noah Harris has always been one of my favorite paranormal authors but with this story he has redefined the way I think about paranormal.
This book was a little slow at the beginning for me but I know that I can always rely on a fantastic story from Noah Harris so i stuck with it and was not disappointed in the least.
This is the story of Dean a man who has decided to take over the family farm that he has inherited when he has become bored with his insurance job. When Dean moves out to the farm he realizes that there is work needed and hires Mikeal to complete the repairs.
The attraction between Dean and Mikael turns into a friendship that later develops into more. Along the way we learn of secrets long kept by Dean's family and we watch as the men learn to understand and deal with this information.
I really enjoyed the way Mr. Harris has introduced the wolf lore and provided the background information that has not been provided by other authors that I have read/
This story has a happy for now ending and I am looking forward to seeing what is next in store for Dean and Mikael.
**I received an advanced copy of this book for an honest review
