A growing up story with my favorite kind of ending
Another great read by Alyson Root. I love the her British sense of humor and that definitely comes out in this book. I wasn't impressed by the character River Romeo Dawson at first, those player type of women make me roll my eyes and tell them to grow up. Alyson turns that thinking around in the way she delves into River's psyche and enlists the help of Cleo Carter. Nothing helps a woman grow up faster than a good woman who is worth growing up for.
Alyson Root has easily become a favorite author. Every book I've read of hers always gives a little bit extra on top of the sexy hot sapphic romance!
This one brings us River and Cleo - a one night stand that neither of them expected to see ever again. River is assigned to a Navy ship and usually out at sea. However, Cleo is the daughter of the Admiral of the Navy, who happens to help his daughter get an journalist assignment aboard that same ship. Close quarters and awkward moments for sure!
The bonus is that Cleo discovers a story and enlists the help of River and her band of crewmates to help her investigate. Truly a gem of a story!
Really good book. Growing up process, good friends, bad guys, happy ending.
I loved this book. Alyson Root has a talent for making you understand her characters emotional depths. This book showed what it's like look at yourself from another person's point of view. How you can be doing something you think is right for yourself, but not understand the impacts it has on others. The Admiral's Daughter is an insta-love, military romance. While the feelings for the characters were formed quickly, it felt warranted. They needed eachother to get through the messy part of growing up and understanding each other's feelings. This book was sexy, smart and a lot of fun. Highly recommend anything by Alyson Root. 10/10 well done.
Something about those Dress Blues
This was quite an arousing story about how two women who are drawn to one another their love of the navy. One is a horny sailor who has a unique attitude toward willing female partners. And there's that writer who has something about those Dress Blues.
