This was my first story by Emily Wright, but certainly not my last. I so enjoyed this book, funny, sweet, with a good amount of spice and the right amount of angst. Jess and Rebecca were such well rounded characters and I loved how things flowed between them. Lily was a great secondary character as well. So many times, I get a book bc the plot sounds amazing but then the writing is subpar and doesn't live up to the potential, not the case here. I definitely recommend this book if you want a fun, easy read.

Loved this! Loved the plot, the writing, the romance, and most definitely the characters. Jess is so relatable and Rebecca is so complimentary to her and grounds her so well, it was so heart-warming to read their story. Can't wait for what's next from Wright.
Steamy Best Friend's Sister Romance
Emily Wright has done it again! That Secret Something is another fabulous story added to her catalog of must-read works. The MCs Jess and Rebecca are both thoughtfully written, with an electric rapport and engaging challenges they must overcome on their road to romance.
As someone on the fairly anxious side, I loved how Jess’ anxiety was written and the way her intrusive thoughts were described. It made me really proud of her when she was able to break out of her shell herself. But also, Rebecca’s gentle understanding and efforts to help Jess made me fall for her a bit too! As a character, Rebecca oozes confidence (and witty quips), but the vulnerability she shows to Jess is where she really shines. The evolution of their relationship felt natural, and I liked that the story did not mess around with a “will they/won’t they.” Their… ahem… “talks” get right to the root of what they both want and things escalate from there. The steam in That Secret Something is HOT, and once it starts it doesn’t let up (the car scene had me sweating!). It all culminates in a heart (and cheek) warming story about the obstacles our loved ones/we place on our paths to happiness, and two people who should have started dating years ago.
If you’re a fan of Delilah Green Doesn’t Care, small town romances, or friends-to-lovers, That Secret Something definitely belongs on your list!
I really enjoyed this story! It was so freakin' Cute!
Jess has had a secret crush on Rebecca, who is her best friend, Lily's sister, since forever. Now Lily is getting married and wants both Jess and Rebecca to be her maids of honor - causing them to spend lots of time together. So many romantic opportunities, right? Yes, you won't be disappointed.
Now, the story is cute, the cover is cute, the banter between the characters is super cute. However, this book does not lack in 🌶🔥🌶🔥🥵!! I mean wow, and it just exemplifies the chemistry between Jess and Rebecca. Overall, it was a very good read! I am looking forward to reading more from Emily Wright 🥰
A Wonderfully Uncomplicated Romance Novel with Some Serious Spice
That Secret Something is a wonderfully uncomplicated romance.
Although this book has the forbidden love trope, the complications are minimal. Jess is dating her best friend's older sister, Rebecca, and even though it seems like it will lend to some tense situations, this romance novel still reads very casual. It isn't a book with many surprises and some times that is the exact book you need.
This is a very casual book that offers very little change in tone throughout, but it does get your heart racing during the sex scenes. Emily Wright is a master at writing Lesbian sex scenes and it does not go unnoticed for sure.
Overall, I think if you are looking for a very casual read with some serious spice and a cutesy romance at the helm, That Secret Something will be just your cup of tea.
