Description

Nicole Neal has spent her entire career climbing the ladder of sports broadcasting. As a sharp-witted analyst for the WNBA’s elite, she prides herself on her objective voice and professional distance. Love has never been part of the game plan, and she prefers it that way. Her structured life takes a sudden, dizzying detour during the season opener when a high-stakes play sends superstar point guard Ariana Villa tumbling off the court and directly into her lap. Ariana is the league’s golden girl—fearless on the hardwood and notoriously guarded off it. Yet, the moment their eyes meet in that sideline collision, the professional boundary between commentator and athlete evaporates. What starts as a chaotic accident quickly smolders into an intense, undeniable attraction that threatens to complicate everything they have worked for. For two women balancing the harsh glare of the public eye with the demands of top-tier athletics, a relationship isn't just a romance—it’s a career risk. As the season heats up, Nicole and Ariana must navigate the fine line between protecting their reputations and listening to their hearts. In the fast-paced, high-pressure world of professional basketball, they are about to learn that the most terrifying moves are the ones made off the clock.

Entertaining

Readers who pick up a novel by Jamey Moody usually know exactly what kind of emotional experience they are signing up for. Moody has built her reputation on stories that favor warmth over turmoil and connection over prolonged angst. Her romances tend to live in a space that feels closer to a Hallmark movie than to a high drama melodrama. The focus is not on tearing the lovers apart but on celebrating the chemistry that draws them together. For many readers, that tone is not a limitation. It’s the appeal. That sensibility shapes every page of Take the Shot, a sports romance set in the highly visible world of professional basketball. The premise carries the promise of risk and intrigue. Nicole Neal has worked tirelessly to secure a coveted position on the WNBA’s top broadcasting team, building a reputation for sharp insight and deep devotion to the game. Ariana Villa stands on the other side of that professional divide as the league’s fearless superstar point guard. Their worlds are meant to remain separate. One analyzes the game. The other plays it. Moody launches the romance with a moment that feels almost tailor made for a sports movie. During the opening game of the season, Ariana’s momentum carries her crashing over the sideline and straight into Nicole’s lap. It is a playful and cinematic introduction that instantly signals the tone of the story. From that point forward the connection between the two women sparks to life with a kind of joyful inevitability. The…

Love and basketball!

Jamey Moody is one of my favorite authors, I love her books that are low angst, heartwarming and full of characters that are worth rooting for! This book is just like that and more, with a little forbidden love affair and a lot of longing and intimate connections! Love this friends to lovers story, the middle aged sport commentor Nicole is accomplished, dedicated all her life to work, satisfied with her quiet single life, when the famous WNBA star Ariana accidently fell into her lap, everything changed instantly. I love Ariana's Golden Retriever energy, a perfect match with Nicole's black cat personality! A sweet and happy sapphic romance that always makes me smile!

Lovey Dovey

If you love the sappy love stories with a basketball theme you have found the perfect book for just that. In this forbidden love story you have the commentator who should be neutral with her opinions and the player who is stealing her heart. Full of sappy love and some spice to go with it.

Great sports romance

I really appreciated the story where the MC get to know each other. Good pace. Love reading the struggles. Would have enjoyed a wedding scene.
